The Old Folks Home

So far we have seen a young sow with one cub in our driveway. She took off fast and left the cub behind.
crazy....leaving the cub...didn't think they would do that.

he walked all over Juneau for 3 months this summer and had no problems. ...he has lived here all of his life..and the road to town is well traveled, he will be fine. He is also an ox of a boy, and that helps too.

We had four wild turkeys about 100 feet up the dirt road past our driveway. What game animals do you see?

hum, moose are most common...big and easy to see. They are very habitual. They walk the same path every day. Their path only shifts if you block it...or the snow gets too deep, then they go to a route at a lower elevation.

Dumb chickens... Ptarmigan. :)

All raptors known to man. LOTS of owls, bald eagles, hawks, rarely peregrine falcons. Lots of ravens and crows and magpies.

lots of weasels all kinds...a few lynx, decent number of coyotes.

porcupines, squirrels... oodles of bird in the breeding season, not so many in winter.

My dogs got after a porcupine once in NS. Luckily, they were well trained so they came when i called them.
here it is well know that dogs either get prickles once.....or every single blasted time they see one!

luckily our dog is a "oncer"
