I have a fresh hatch of Ermine but even though it was black over Ermine pairing, all of my hatches were Ermine and I wanted blacks. I contacted the seller and they had some blacks for me. AND a gorgeous lavender pullet. I was instantly in love šŸ˜

This has lead to 7 hours straight of trying to figure up breeding potential and my brain is mush.

I found a pretty good chart but when it mentions Ermines it says 'black ermine' which is confusing and also says Dom white over lavender is black splits but other things online say that will give 100% lavender ermine?

I understand that the black and lavender are competing genetically so in my head Dom white over lavender should give the same results as black over dom white but in lavender to produce lavender ermine.

So what would I need to do to create this lavendar ermine? I understand it can take generations, I love a good long project to keep me excited 😊

For my Ameraucanas I have:
9 Ermine chicks - should have atleast 1 of each hopefully šŸ˜‚
2 black pullets
1 lavendar pullet
1 Black roo

I'm on the lookout for a Dom white to complete it. If not, since I've never seen them posted, I'll breed 2 Ermine to get one.

Interested in what you find out

It'll certainly take a little while as lavender requires 2 copies to show (one from each parent)

lavender split is 1 copy lav, and visually black

Black x lav = all lav split, visually black

lav split x lav split = %black (no split), %split, %lav
Can't tell who will be split and not

Lav x lav split = %lav, %split
(Don't have to worry about no-split)

Wrote split too much now I'm questioning if it's a word...

Anyway, it can take a few generations, but you should end up with a flock of black, black paint, lav, lav split, lav paint, lav split paint. And I guess some dom white, and dom white lav split?
