The son and DIL and grandkids made it as far as NC in heavy traffic.
My son and family are coming to stay with us in Virginia! The storm can still shift its track, so you never know where it will land.So glad they got out!!! Hope they have a place to stay. Looks like the new track of the storm is going to take it away from the coast and up into Tennessee.
I'm not sleeping well. My granddaughter, the one I told you (aka bragged) about being a primate keeper for the zoo in Naples is now in the bullseye. The hurricane's path shifted to the west coast last night and ground zero is now Naples. The last message from her this morning was that they have all the animals secured. She is not part of the "ride out" team, a special group of guys and a vet that stay at the zoo during storm events, but she is staying just a little inland to be available as soon as it's over. Her boyfriend has turned his home into a "bunker" as she called it that is fully stocked for a couple of weeks but this plan was laid out before Irma decided to take a different track. If you are so inclined, please add them to your prayer list. A very worried grandma would be very grateful.
Oh yeah, the only thing i have owned messier than ducks was a mynah bird. But at least he could talk. He would hop over and peer into the food cup and say "I'm hungry!". Never forgot to feed that bird!We are clearing out a slot in the woods next to the goats to move the ducks to. Having 5 ducks (we weren't supposed to end up with 5 but the 3 I got from TSC this spring all ended up being girls... and I try not to eat girls) in a 10x10 when it's not safe for them to be out has resulted in about 6 inches of incredibly stinky mud. They have to move.
I would like some ducks and maybe geese but I just can't see dealing with them in frozen tozen land.We are clearing out a slot in the woods next to the goats to move the ducks to.
