The Old Folks Home

Man, I was looking for some Red sex links yesterday...online..expensive!! So, back to hatching. I want some good layers to be starting in the spring, not me buying them from a feed store. Will be nice to have some fresh new layers then. You walked away from Red production layers? :th We all don't need the same thing do we? Wish I could keep bantams in the winter, but not roosters! lol
Our TSC has red sex link pullets and cornishX right now, $3ea. Never saw them have chicks this late in the yr, usually not even in the summer. They must have got a good deal on them.

Typing fast because we are about to get hit by a storm that will most likely take out our power, at least for a bit (pretty common occurrence anytime a storm rolls thru) anyway, here's my "hen or roo?" pics of my BO's.

Tried to get better shots but the stinkers wouldn't stay put! the "colored up" one is showing spur nubs BUT so are the other two but much smaller.

Ok, this is just for showing off. Not bad for a hatchery chick, huh?

The chicks checking out my chives. First time in the big girls yard. How many birds can you find in this pic?

Nice looking chickens! Where did you get them?
Anyone who needs to have all their stuff on the floor should borrow my cats. It would all be off of your furniture and on the floor in no time!

Sooo, like our own photo album on our computer? I guess that's ok..it's easy to down load them from there. I just have to remember where I put what. I've actually been trying to make folders for certain ... subjects. Man, didn't realize how many photos I've taken! What I really need to do, is get them on a disc or hard drive in case something happens to this computer. I do have some photos on my phone now. I've had my smart phone for about a yr. now. I think I am finally getting the hang of it. o_O ;)
Under your user account on here, there are albums. You can make an new album and add images to it. then you can use media gallery imbed to add a pcture to a post--like I just did with an old picture of corwin

Thanks Ron! I needed to know too about how to put them into a post.

:lau No thanks. I know of what you speak. My kitty (now passed) was so good at being "helpful" that I had EVERYTHING stuck down with poster tack!

Thank you! I ordered from Hoover's Hatchery in Iowa. They don't have a huge selection but they're prices are very reasonable and they don't charge shipping. All their hatching stock comes from either their own farm or nearby farms they work closely with on quality and biosecurity. They have all the APA and NPIP certifications, etc. as well. I went in with a neighbor on the order and she was so pleased with the health and appearance of her chicks when she came to get them that she overpaid me! You can check them out on FB or their webpage. They're a great long time family business. Personally, I've tried several hatcheries, mostly with heartbreaking results and had almost given up. I don't plan on ordering from anywhere else again.
