The Old Folks Home

So @superchemicalgirl. Pray tell what trauma caused you to be terrified of needles?

No idea, always been like this and dad used to tease me about it as a kid. I had this Little Golden Book, Simon Visits the Doctor, and he had to get a shot, and dad would torment me, working up to that page...

I screamed every night when Simon got that shot.

I'm also good in a bloody emergency. The goats stepped on one of my cornish hens and ripped her crop out of her chest partway. I was fine. I was fine giving the goats their shots, provided BF could keep them still. I run an IV room, and I'm fine making IVs.

But stay the hell away from my body with your needles.

Blood, guts, needles, no biggie here. I'm good in an emergency involving that sort of stuff. Helped stitch up my sons leg when he filleted a slice out of the back of his calf on a bicycle pedal. Helped a guy who chopped off almost all his fingers with a chain and sprocket on a shredder while doing maintenance. Several instances of wounded in auto accidents. I hunt(ed) & fish(ed), so lots of butchering/cleaning experiences there too.

I remember as a kid I was in line with a whole bunch of other kids to get some inoculation... When I got to the doc and nurse, as the doc was about to give me the shot I asked if he rode a motorcycle... The nurse and several others around me started laughing thinking it was a "coping" question to help me get through the shot. The doc answered that he did... I said I thought I recognized him from seeing him riding.

Sorry SCG but I had to snicker at your shot description of being physically restrained to get one... Just doesn't compute for me...

I very much like Arby's roast beef sandwiches... yum.

I think Wendy's and Taco Time are the cheaper fast food places here. And Wendy's has the baked potato so it doesn't kill me all at once...lol.

However, for fries if I have to eat out...McD's is my favorite place to visit.
We don't go there often, Wendy's. If we do I get the baked potato with sour cream and a chili, mix them together. Nice change from regular fast food. Hard to eat if your driving though

A plus in Arby's favor is that I read once upon a time that their roast beef sandwiches are one of the healthiest fast foods around. A bit high in sodium but very low fat, low cholesterol.

And ya gotta love that Horsey sauce!
Don't go there often either but when we do somehow my pockets get stuffed with horsey sauce, stuff really cleans out the nasal cavity :lau
I've tried making my own with fresh from the garden super hot horseradish but it's not even comparable. Arby's uses horseradish powder, I'm going to have to try that sometime.

Needles have never bothered me even when I was a kid. Donating blood does though, something about seeing it fill up a bag o_O
First time I donated was in boot camp, we were told anyone that donated blood would get a stamp on their arm and wouldn't be 'smoked' for the day, I think everyone in my company donated that day :lau

Thank you! Laparoscopic came to mind but I questioned if it was the right word. Ugh...your poor husband. That doesn't sound very nice at all.

I dread that Dh has to have any surgery, but we finally had a post ph appointment with his surgeon. He has a hiatal hernia resulting in severe gerd. He's taking two (prescribed) rabeprazole daily to help control, but that's not a long term solution. He's been in ph monitoring not once, but twice when the first one failed. His number's supposed to be 14. It's 71.
My husband was getting a hernia surgery redone. Surgeon said it was a simple surgery, 10 minutes tops. I waited and waited. Took a long time, more like an hour. Then after i took him home he kept passing out or getting dizzy. Turns out he was bleeding in his belly. He ended up in ICU!

I have hurt myself many times trying to get away from a needle

Ok y'all I got a hernia repaired a few years ago. Now Tha dang mesh keeps folding in half or something and is causing quite a bit of pain and discomfort.
I'm scared to go back to the Dr. I don't want him to take it out if I'm going to have to deal with a hole again.
Do any of you know anything about this stuff?

You may be eligible for compensation. Some types of mesh have been recalled and or discontinued. If it hurts you need to get it checked out.
