The Old Folks Home

So sorry to hear about your pup but kudos to you for taking such good care of him and being willing to stick in for the long haul. I'm a firm believer that prayers for our critters are heard too and I will be saying one for both of you.
Taking my little "baby" to the vet next week. Long story as to the whys (prior illness) but I can see the clouding and I think she is going blind in one eye.

Yes, Dingo is a good dog who doesn't deserve this happening to him.

I had a Mini Schnauzer go blind on me when he was 7. Genetic disorder. He hid it from us until I saw him walk into a kitchen chair that wasn't pushed in under the table. He didn't let it stop him. He would go out in the yard and walk until his nose hit the chain link fence and then walk with his shoulder touching the fence. When he made once circuit around the 100X100ft yard, he was ready to come in. The only thing I ever saw him have problems with was my fish pond...oops. I put a fence around it and that was the end of the unplanned baths.

The funniest thing he did was one night shuffle over to my brother and set down at his feet. Bro reached down to pet him, Jamie sniffed his hand, jerked away, stood, sniffed the air, pointed his nose right at me and walked over to me and set at my feet. I laughed so hard I cried. My brother just shook his head and said that he just didn't smell right to Jamie.

They cope very well without sight. Just don't move the furniture around on them.

Here's a fun recipe I just found on FB for a cute no bake candy for Halloween.

Here is the recipe if anyone wants to make it.

That's why I figured I'd better ask. I'd hate to do them more harm.

@penny1960. I feel for your husband. He must be one tough hombre, Hondo to be able to toss a frisbee with broken ribs. Men will be boys though, LOL.
It is my hubby who is tough as nails. But he says they didn't play long. He did walk around a lot, mostly i think he wanted to work but could not.

My old dog has cataracts, he has a hard time seeing especially in poor light. Sorry for all the folks with declining pets.:hugs

Yep, spirit willing but the body beat up, been there done that.

This is one of those times where prescription narcotics are you best friend. I didn't want to take them when I broke a rib last winter because they knocked me out. DH just pushed a glass of water and pills in my hand and said that was the general plan. I didn't need to be doing anything except heal.

Now we both have had broken ribs twice. Once together in a car accident. Once i broke ribs by sneezing too hard! And now him falling out of a tree with the chain saw in hand!

I sprang one of mine vomiting. It was an episode where I was so heave-y that I passed out with my head in the toilet. Believe me, coming to and realizing where I was... Well, not one of my fonder memories.

I think there's a Seinfeld episode about fear of throwing up. I totally get it now.
