The Old Folks Home

Having been a moderator, I can tell you it is neither fun, nor easy, and folks get "in their feelings" altogether too easy, and too deep. I have my own journal over on BYH and when a certain member got upset with me he basically slandered/insulted/flamed/accused me on my own journal. This was not a simple disagreement or argument. The entire episode was a lead up to what made me quit as a moderator and I came very close to quitting the site completely. As the journal owner, I should have the ability to remove those posts and not have to rely on (wait for) a moderator to come clean up my journal for me. I was NOT saying that anyone should have "general powers" to do that.

Maybe as an alternative the ability to "remove for moderation" so it can be removed from the OP's thread until a moderator decides what follow up should happen. The amount of times moderation was required over on BYH was almost nonexistent compared to over here, but of course the membership over there is only ~12K compared to 340K over here.

I do not like confrontation and I discovered that as an active member of any forum, it is even MORE difficult to moderate. IMHO, to be an effective moderator one must not be an "active member" in the forum. Otherwise, when moderation is called for, it is too easy to be accused of "sleeping with the enemy" or fraternization, or having favorites, taking sides, etc. There are a LOT of very immature "adults" nowadays... not just kids. :duc:oops:

Which explains a great deal as to why far too many of our youth are the way they are.

This generation of people don't think they have to work to get a check.
They feel if they just show up they deserve a check.
They hide in back rooms and closets on their phones all day!
They are suppose to be running a business to earn that check!
They were not taught you must EARN A LIVING!
They should act like adults when they go to work. JMHO

nice!! Finally has a picture again!

It is a how-to article..like how to plan a coop for a cold climate. It isn't a coop article (I have 3 coop articles ;) )It goes over snow berms, coop door design with lots of snow, perch width, pros and cons of insulation. ..etc.

Not sure where it should belong?
I've shared the link to your cold weather coops many times, it's a good read :D
