The Old Folks Home

I camouflage zucchini. Zucchini bread. Love it. In homemade veggie soup? Yum. Pureed and stirred into spaghetti sauce. Never know it's there and you get all the vitamins.

DH got two outlets on line one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen but the stove is still a work in progress as he discovered that he needs to run more wire but all in all a good amount of work. Our basement is basically a roost cellar/crawlspace. We try not to go down there any more than we need to due to our allergies. I spent a good 30 minutes sweeping down cobwebs. Amazing how quickly the creepy crawlies can take over any given area. And I hate cobwebs.

@superchemicalgirl. I'd love to see that finished H&K MP5 when you get it finished.

Well that is creative use of veggies. You could puree them and add to almost any soup.
Personally i love cobwebs and find them decorative! But i am a Halloween enthusiast!

Zuchinni sliced thin and Sauted in a combo of Butter and Olive oil Splash of lemon juice and salt pepper and garlic. YumO.

Acorn squash Halved cleaned of seeds (seeds can be roasted in salt and garlic for a snack)

Fill center with brown sugar and a couple of pats of butter and a teeny bit of salt... Roast till tender

WE put em in a bowl and scoop out with a fork mixing the brown sugar and butter in each bite....

Spaghetti squash can be cooked the same way...

NOt a fan of boiling any kind of veggie like this because all the flavor goes away. But you can steam them in the microwave.... Then season them afterwards... Savory not sweet.

Roasted is best because it takes the moisture out...

With Eggplant I slice em thin and salt and pepper.... dip in flour then egg then flour... and Fry in olive oil... ccouple of ways to serve them up....
layered in a dish instead of Lasagna noodles

Layered with maranara sauce parmesan and Motzerella... My version of eggplant parmesan.

Or plain old served up as a side dish.

I agree, they can be quite artistic but I just hate them when they get in my hair and face.

I saw some really impressive attic spiders.:sick down there, or what passes for the empty shells after they shed and molt. I am always impressed by spiders and know they help keep other bugs controlled and as long as they stay in the basement I'm fine with them.

We would love to dig out the basement and finish it.The walls and foundation are poured cement but the Amish guy who built it had some of the forms buckle on him so in places the walls are over a foot thick. We would have to cut into the foundation in order to dig out the rest of the dirt. Way too much work. He built the house next door to us and it was basically a 'pole' construction without a foundation. The new owners raised the house so he could get under it with a bobcat and dig out the new basement (theirs was similar to ours), set forms and pour concrete. They now have a nice walk out basement....I've got a spare room for spiders and cob webs.

Oh well, as long as it keeps them out of the upstairs......
