Bananas are one thing that agrees well with me. But the little flies that like the bananas are a pain!

fruit flies are a pain for sure.... Set out a small glass of cider vinegar... somewhere away from the fruit. I use a mason jar with some wine too... ad in some dish soap... make the hole on the cone about the size of a pin head.... They cant figure out how to get out.

Fruit flies are a pain, especially when they decide to lay their little maggot larvae in our black berry crop! We make traps out of 2 liter pop bottles. Cut off the top, flip it and stick it in the bottom half like a funnel, punch two holes, attach a wire 'handle' and add your bait of choice. You can hang them anywhere.

This last summer, I made fly traps this way. Put my bait in it and hung them around the outside of the coop. Amazing how well they worked.

Zuchinni sliced long into spears, tossed with olive oil and sea salt, roasted on the grill in a perforated pan until tender-crisp, yum!

Butternut squash soup-roast the squash first, DO NOT boil it to cook it.

Perhaps I'm a bit on the sadistic side. I've found they are highly attracted to lettuce that's past freshness. I've always got salad so I put a few pieces in a large ziploc bag and let it fill with flies (doesn't take very long) They I close the bad quickly and squish them.
I find it therapeutic.

Anything to get rid of bugs! Our house in Fl always had ants. With this house it is bees, stink bugs and lady bug beetle type things.

Ugh, better you than me! Give me tomatoes any day! I am going to miss getting them out of my garden.

Hey Micro, my house is on piers and the land slopes enough that I could have a walk out basement. Do you have any idea how much it cost for the neighbor to jack the house, dig it, form it, pour it, and set it? I have a ~1550 sqft ranch so it would double my usable space as well as allow me to better grade around the house.

Wet? The other two I did (national Lampoon's quotes which are great but I can't share here) I had to wet to get the marking pen off. This one is dry. It does have grunge style fabric as the background... Maybe that's why?

The furnace thing turned out to be (after they replaced all the likely furnace parts) my water heater. Which is an 80 gallon tank so it's a couple thousand to replace. The company has been lollygagging around with this whole thing. They last came out Friday to take pictures of the old tank that I had to get me a replacement. They said they'd get me a quote ASAP.

Because you should always get a second quote, I called around. The first guy was rude, like I was interrupting him, and abruptly asked if he could call me back that afternoon at my number. Of course. Haven't heard back from him. That was Friday morning.

This problem of not being able to get laborers to work at my house is a recurring thing and has been for years. Many up here complain they're out of work and poor, yet trying to actually get someone to perform work is akin to a miracle, sometimes.

Anyway, the furnace guy showed me how to turn the water heater on and off so the furnace wouldn't drip a lot when it was off and I wouldn't have to empty the bladder. Turn it on when you want hot water. Not a huge deal, a little inconvenient. I asked him how long this bandaid would work, and he said a long time. This morning I turn the handles to turn it back on, go to crawl in the shower and discover now we have no hot water.

Now I'm pissed.
