The Old Folks Home

My favorite oldest daughter came to spend Thanksgiving with me (from Maine) and acquired some "carry on baggage" during her trip here. We're both suffering with colds. Not the flu, but deep cough with congestion, sinuses, etc. I don't sleep well to begin with and this is making it near impossible. Got maybe an hour and a half last night between 2-4am... Dozed off and on for several more hours in my recliner after 9am... Hope I can kick in sooner rather than later. She heads back on the 30th. Maybe she'll be over this and catch a new bug to bring to Maine with her... :tongue
Codeine cough syrup is great for that...But they may not prescribe it anymore..

Awwww, Latestarter, :hugs hope you both feel better real soon.

I had a bit of a rough holiday as well. Got an "or else" note from my dr about getting my flu shot and a pneumonia something or other booster. Went to Walgreens on Friday and got them (DH got his flu shot too) and had an allergic reaction to the 2nd one and couldn't use my left arm (guess which handed I am, yep) for two days. It actually went down hill from there, literally on Saturday night. I was heading down the hallway in a rush, heard the microwave beep and attempted to make a fast U-turn. Felt my feet slip on the rug and go one way, the rest of me go the other, next thing I know I smack my head on the edge of the microwave stand, then bounce off the floor. I wind up flat on my back looking up at my DH. He says, "what happened?" I give him the LOOK and state the obvious "I fell" at which time he wisely retreats to the livingroom while I carefully take inventory of the damage. Fortunately the final tally was a few bruises, sore muscles, and a screaming headache. Nothing broken, thank you Lord.
I think it actually worked in my favor tho because the next morning I stiffly walked into the bedroom where DH sat sorting some papers on the bed. Remembering what (I think) GetAClue said about the direct approach, I said "Will you answer me honestly if I ask you something?" "Why won't you let me get a kitty?" He just looked up "you can get a kitty" "Really? That's all I wanted for Christmas so you don't have to get me anything else". That made him smile. That made me smile because I recognized it as his "whew! I'm off the hook!" smile. :lau
Sorry about your fall! Maybe you need your head examined!
It was me who suggested just asking him. Yay! I love that you can get a kitty!:love

The big question is, did the food in the microwave burn? cute-blue-bird-laughing-smiley-emoticon.gif

Sorry you fell! :hugs

There have been too many people falling and getting hurt recently.

it is great that you can get a kitty!

Geez @Latestarter couldn't you have given DD something ELSE for Thanksgiving?? ;)
I hope you both get better soon but that old 5-7 days thing will likely control.

They said the price of gas went do so we did not need a raise. :rant
On the whole, seniors use less gas than the average driver. They should check the price of pharmaceuticals and medical care to decide on SS COLAs.

He just looked up "you can get a kitty"
:celebrate:wee
You don't even need to get the expensive self cleaning box now! I guess the direct approach CAN work sometimes.

Maybe she'll be over this and catch a new bug to bring to Maine with her... :tongue

If she's patient zero and brings that back to Maine, I will find you.

gosh @Latestarter sorry to here your both sick Mucinex is sold over the counter now it is Guanfacine is the product. Robitussin has it also I believe had a Dr recommend it when I had pneumonia

Oh it's not guanfacine... it's guaifenesin. Big difference!
