The Old Folks Home

Wonder if I could be hypnotized to eat smaller portions or something. A few times I have gone without ice cream and my other temptations and eventually lost 17 lbs. But, the family refuses to notice any change. I don't usually care what someone else thinks but am very fragile when I have given up so many goodies and get no attention. It's the men in the family that don't notice. Ladies on the senior bus notice even before I do.
I lost 20 lbs one summer putting up fences in July. Once more i am going to need to put up fences, very soon.

Alaskan, just lock yourself in your bedroom and eat the cake. Who says eating a whole cake is bad? You NEVER heard that from me. I just felt a strong impulse to make the Pillsbury cheesecake brownies - it's my sons favorite. But, somehow I had picked up two boxes and since I don't want to overwhelm him, I will eat all of this batch myself. It's a tough job but, parents have to protect kids(he's 32) .

Alaskan , now and then our grocery store has good sized square pieces of cake for like 4 for$ 5 or rarely 5for $ 5, several kinds. I love German chocolate too but, the marble cake is great, red velvet, snickers, etc. Once I ate all 5 at one sitting. It was good but more filling than ice cream, that just melts and slides down.

I cut a little slice from each kind.. chocolate, red velvet, carrot, and caramel. :wee it was good! I let one kid who had done a crazy amount of work today, have a small bite of each.

:ya

Today I thought my deep freeze was busted.

First it was just, did the light burn out, but it is still running? Kept trying to hear it.. ..

finally I said nope..it isn't running.. one more hail Mary. .let us yank it out and see if it magically unplugged.

Couldn't do it with burly kid #3 because one freezer foot was stuck behind the linoleum (it is an upright freezer recessed into a hole just a touch bigger than the freezer. linoleum is in front of it, but not under it) .

Had to wait for kid #1 to get home.. he manhandled it like a champ. :D

And yes...no joke, something from the top of the freezer had fallen down, only thing wrong was the plug got pulled out a bit. :th Now ain't that nice!

AL, everyone is entitled to a little luck now and again. I think you just used up your allotment for the foreseeable future... A new freezer would have been a serious ding to the budget I'm sure, though I imagine the food inside would have stayed frozen quite a while there, even without power. Speaking of which, have you finally lit a fire in your stove? :lau

Lovely snowman Scg.

Went to the Dr. Yesterday to get a refill on my Ambien. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in weeks.
Last night I finally got some sleep from 10 pm till 6am! I feel so good this morning.

Feed table looks nice.

Al Divas right take the cake to your room and enjoy!
Kids get stuff all the time. Sometimes we have to indulge ourselves as well.

@penny1960, I'm so glad you got the hanging. I walked around the house trying to find a place that I could hang it and couldn't. Our home is on an open floor plan and every large 'open' wall area is already claimed.

Speaking of indulgences and not sleeping, Last night our cattle dog, the one that has degenerative myelopathy got a wild hair going and decided that he wanted to go outside at 11pm. Dingo has always enjoyed being out in nice weather during the full moon so he could chase varmints and I guess he decided that last night he realized that the moon was almost full. The spirit was willing even if the body is less than perfect. So after laying in bed and listening to him fuss at us about it (if he doesn't get what he wants he tends to lay and bark at us until we give in to his demands) I put him out in their fenced in section of yard where he'd be safely contained and can watch the woods from either the deck, under the deck in one of their dog houses, or from the yard and put his two younger buddies out with him to keep him company. So they went from barking in the house to barking outside and this morning I feel like this:caf

It's going to be a long day.

I just saw this and I'm glad Penny snatched it up.
I have one from this same pattern that scg sent to me a couple of years ago and it is currently hanging on my bedroom wall.
I love snowmen. They can stay around for a couple of months after the Christmas decor has been sent to the attic.
I totally agree! Snowmen get a free pass to stay out longer. :love I'm also glad you spoke for it. That's something I could never do from up here although it's gorgeous!!

It costs $15 to send just four calendars across the border. That line is very expensive!
