The Old Folks Home

Critter was a bit bummed when he got home this evening. Last week, he took a couple hundred dollars' worth of Poinsettias to the local co-op. These are some of the better plants he has grown, and he is rightfully proud of them. This afternoon, he was near the co-op, so he wandered in, and saw wilting Points looking mournfully at him. "Oh, yeah, I've had people telling me they need watering all day." The ones in the back room were even worse - he doesn't think they have been watered at all since he dropped them off a week ago. I'm glad they paid for them up front, but if they were just going to let them die, why didn't they take them straight to the dumpster and not clutter the place up to begin with?:rant

How does that place stay in business? Are there member dues?

Wow, just seeing this. So glad he got those clots taken care of. He will feel sooo much better too, when he gets the hernia taken care of. My hubby has had a few of those done. One, then three at once! Plus he suggested that while he was in there, to take out his appendix. My husband says, sure, want to take my tonsils while your at it? He he, should have seen the look on the docs. face. Then he goes on to explain how doing so could be saving him from another future surgery. Good luck to your hubby. He's going to feel brand new after all this is done. :)
Thanks Cynthia! This last clot was non-occlusive and it's been left it for his body to break down. I'll admit it has me nervous. I thought it was one of the branches that had the clot. It was the superior mesenteric. He's been feeling not so great, especially when he eats so he's been taking it easy. We've watched vids as a family to get a better understanding and to see what's involved. Today I looked up superior mesenteric ischemia in the Merck. The body is so incredibly amazing.

A fellow from town got a blood clot about the same time as DH. We're hearing that he's paralyzed from the waist down. That's so scary.

DH will be relieved when he gets his hernia fixed. I have a grasp on what ppis do and how he's at risk for certain things. The sooner he can be off his ppis the better. Right now we're being told he's going to be on apixaban for 6 months. If I understand it correctly this is an anti-platelet drug...no one has informed us as to what this means in regards to his hernia operation. That's expected to be in about 3 months. We have a list of questions when he goes for his refill before the first month is up. We are definitely learning lots of interesting things...lol.
