Penny, raised donuts?:drool

Doesn't matter if you are doctor, nurse, pharmacist physical therapist or nurses aid. There is a reason there is a shortage of medical professionals in the country. It's rewarding but it is tough, both physically and emotionally. And the spirit gets tired as well as the body.

I know many nurses who quit within 6 months of graduating and doctors who got tired of the BS they were having to take and did the same before they reached the age of 40. Most were good doctors. It really is sad.

The place we go to here has computers in each exam room that they use to send the prescription out. The Rx is usualy ready by the time we get to CVS at the Target store across the city. Takes about 10 minutes to get there
Wow. I could only dream.

takes us 1/2 hour 45 minutes but we like it that way..
And yes raised doughnuts 003.jpg

It's the same at my doctors.

Those systems are amazing. They were trying to get everyone to go that route or face penalties from Medicare. Now here is the clincher. The system they were pushing practices the size of the one my husband had was over 30,000 dollars. Yep. We were talking to our family doctor one day during appointments and he was telling us that his practice (DO) with one full time nurse and a few office employees would have to hire extra employees to set up the system, train the staff and get the office operations switched over to the system.

We knew we weren't going to do it and were looking at retirement. We asked him what he was going to do and he shook his head. It just wasn't financially feasible for a practice his size to invest that money either. He said that medicare would only nick him 1% the first year he didn't have the system. 2% the second year and the third year, he was retiring and really didn't care past that point.

My doctor's practice is large and just bought out by Hannibal MO health care system but we estimate his system, with Urgent Care clinics and clinics in four different towns has to be worth over 100,000 dollars. Completely computerized with pagers for the patients, automated reminders for email, telephone, voice mail and texts.

And that my friends is why you are seeing the death of the sole proprietor medical practice in America.

Now I work for my chickens, and they can be pretty unforgiving also if I forget their sunflower seed in the morning so I'm back to square one. Only I no longer have a medicine cart to kick the crap out of.
Perhaps a nice hay bale would take the brunt of your frustration without complaint ... nor hurting your foot near as much as a metal cart would.

The contractor came today and could not believe what a crappy job the other guy did.
In the past you mentioned 2 guys, no? Is "the contractor" one of them or did he sub out to 2 yahoos and this is the first he's seen of the job? If the latter, I guess your squeaky wheel was in the wrong place. Though, I would hope he would be checking in on progress with SOME frequency.
