I think the term for that is "teabagging."
I would NOT Google that term if I were you :lau

Trash. 25 dollars per month isn't bad. I just got our waste disposal bill. It's 109$ plus change. We'd burn and bury it but DH and I both have asthma so it's worth it to us to have it toted away.
There is a LOT of stuff in the average trash can that should NOT be burned. There is a reason burn barrels have been outlawed in a lot of places. I don't think it was nearly as big a problem before all the plastic and "easy food" packaging came to be.

Bruce, our garbage service did the same thing with the square containers however, seniors could ask for the smaller ones and I did. It's still very hard to drag them over snow and ice to the area where a curb would be if we had any. We don't. They topple over easily because they are tall and narrow.
Yep. And we have a similar "not a curb". Plus every time they grade the road, it somehow seems to get taller and the angle down our driveway gets a bit steeper. No flat surface to put them on. Maybe the big 96 gallon ones don't blow over as easily. In order to save time in the morning on Thursdays (since I have a 4 hour one way drive that day) I have been putting them out the night before. The hauler actually says we must put them out Wed night, 3' apart. Presumably that is so the side lift truck they are EVENTUALLY going to buy can pick them up. Lots of wind overnight this past week and they went over. DW picked up what she found before she left for work. I found a couple more items by the barn yesterday. I will never know if any blew down the road but I will be surprised if I don't find a couple of things at the edge of the wetland in the north field this spring.

Garbage pickup? Wow, lots of "urbanites" on here! ;)
Or towns that think they are urban? We live 3/4 mile from the main road, only the first 1/4 is paved. The town had a vote last year to continue "curbside" with a 4 year contract or join the solid waste district. Curbside won by about 66%. I was quite sad about that. People could have contracted for curbside if they didn't want to deal with it themselves. Those of us that don't generate enough trash to warrant weekly pickup get to subsidize the others. Yes it is convenient BUT we can NOT use the SWD facilities because our town isn't part of it. That means we have to save up all the non trash, non recycle stuff up and take it to "hazardous waste" DAY in the spring. REAL convenient when EVERYONE has to go on the same day. NOT!

I apologize in advance if any of my replies are too out of synch with the board. I just noticed that I am receiving postings that are way out of time sequence. I am sure it is more an ISP problem than a BYC problem most likely due to our super cold weather. I think I will just lurk until things settle down as I am not able to visit too much right now anyway. Have a great safe week everyone.
