The Old Folks Home

Update on my dd #1 Dr. said she has fractured T2-3-4 vertebrae and a blood clot in her brain. They are putting her on cumiden for the clot. And a neck and torso brace for 3 months. They will keep her at least 3 more days. The Dr. said she is delusional and it is likely from the blood clot. I am a basket case. Praying for healing.

I am so hopeful and payers go to you and yours a parent should never have to go through this praying the clot dissipates silently

Ron I'm trying to stay positive.
I lost my youngest sister from a clot in her brain in her early 40s.
That is very sad!

Since your DD is getting treatment at the hospital, she has a very good chance of getting better from the clot. It is positive that they found it.

It will be better for you when you get to see her tomorrow

@chickadoodles, I know it's hard not to think about the past when dealing with something similar in the present. I don't know what the circumstances were surrounding your sister but that was then and this is now. Please keep telling yourself that. Medicine is progressing so fast that even 10 years has shown staggering improvements in treatments of intracranial hemorrhages, and it sounds as though the bleeding has stopped or they wouldn't be giving her anti coagulants to break up the clot. That's good news! Please try to stay positive and calm. You will need a good nights sleep if you are planning to drive to be with her.

Last week I mentioned I had finished a top for a baby quilt that I just absolutely couldn't stand.

Sat down this weekend and finished it between dog walks and chores.

It looks a bit better with some quilting.

I'm still embarrassed to gift it. It only cost me time and batting and I think you can easily tell. Obviously the top is all scraps of fabric (I have realized I hate scrappy quilts) as is the binding. Dsqard lost a bet to me and had to buy my backing fabric. I realize the kid is just going to excrete on it, so I'm going to have to get over the fact that it's not a prize winner and just gift it. Lesson learned. Just say no to scrap.

You did an amazing job, wish I had your talent .

DD # 2 is going to drive us down to FL. Friday to spend the weekend with her.
The Dr. said that blood is still flowing past the clot so he thinks it will be ok on blood thinners. She is a full blown alcoholic and we are worried she will drink while taking all the meds they are going to put her on. And that also has to be in Gods hands.
Thank you all for all of your prayers and support. It has helped more than you will ever know. :hugs
And thanks Micro for reminding me that this is now!:hugs
Ron your helpful encouragement means so much, Thank you. :hugs

Have a safe trip!

I'm not going to say it won't be tough but nothing is impossible.

Hopefully the doc and health care providers are aware of her history with alcohol. I might make a difference in how they approach her treatment. This might be a blessing in disguise for her, a chance to get into treatment. She has to want to though but sometimes having something bad happen and facing your own mortality is what it takes for a person to say, hey! don't want to go here and do this again.
