The Old Folks Home

Ice can be fun.
One time I had a bright idea of going out on stateland during freezing rain and hit every thick chunk of pines looking for bedded down deer. Figured I'd be the only one out there, I was.
Put my heavy v-bar tire chains on all four tires on the plow truck. Climbed that mountain no problem like a tank. Hit a bunch of good spots, got soaked and no deer ...
Coming back down the mountain later, was a workout. It wasn't slidding down the hill but off the crown of the road, sideways. Had it in four low first gear so it held me back. But to keep it on the road I had to non-stop, stomp the gas and crank the wheel to the left.
Stomp yank, stomp yank, scared to death I'd end up down over the bank for a couple miles...

:eek::oops::barnie
That's horrible! They should have taken it back to the p.o. for you to pick it up! My word! So glad your ok. :hugs
They do that here a lot. Mail, UPS, FedEx. But at least they put a plastic bag around the package and set it by or hang from your mailbox. Good thing we don't have people like all those stealing Amazon deliveries I heard of some places during Christmas.

Finally got the temp in the house up to 76. Outside it's 19. I don't think a chicken stuck it's beak outside all day. I just keep telling myself what good fertilizer their bedding is going to make when the weather lets me get it done.

And it's actually snowing :weeup to four inches by tomorrow night. Maybe we will get to revisit our second childhood and break in our sleds.

So that qualified as fun???!!!

So mail truck threw my package on the side of my driveway since they couldn't get up. I laughed, stopped the car, got out, tried to get the package and get back into the car when the car started sliding down the driveway. Tried to jump in, slipped, fell and almost got run over by my car.

Yes, this happened to me 2 years ago, also.

Need to stop doing that.

Yes you do or decide to be road pizza

Oh boo boo or words to that effect, it's snowing again. We got about 3 inches yesterday, and are supposed to get 3-5 inches today and Tuesday. Plus which it's 13.5 F
and going down

so move silly we never have real hard weather but rain

When the drought was over people had gotten so good at using less water that the bills went up - to cover the administrative costs.
This exact thing happened on the front range in CO. Everyone in the suburbs was basically forced to join in the Denver water district. During the drought they kept telling folks to conserve and the more we conserved the higher the bills got. They had to keep raising the rates cause folks weren't using enough water to generate the funds required to keep operating. What a fricken ruse! Water is one of the primary reasons I moved here to NE TX.

Last month was $125.00 which will be the lowest month this year. In the summer I expect it will be $150.00. I am one of the lower water using households too. Others pay $300.00 or so per month...

...We were so good at conserving water that the rates are going up 5% per year due to not meeting usage amount to pay the loans. It is quite sad really

More than "sad" Ron, it's a complete sham. I get upset now when my water bill is over $35.00. That's JUST water... no sewer, no trash. A $300 water bill? Just one more reason to move far away from CA... :rant

Dang SCG... you gotta be more careful! Would hate for you to become a "statistic"...

Got on line for Costco.....60$ for a membership? :gig
Yes but if you have to pay $20 for ONE bottle of name brand at the grocery store or drug store, the price of 5 even not on sale at Costco pays that membership real fast.

I think that would be a good thing, let us know if you work that out. :)

We are executive members at Costco, We spend so much on grocery they said you get 2 percent of what you spend it pays you membership then cash. Started it in like July last year got the member fee of 120.00 paid plus 4.00 wonder what it will be on a 12 month this coming year

You can get someone with costco membership to buy a costco gift card for you. You can get in and shop using the card and no membership
