The Old Folks Home

We got about an inch of snow overnight. I didn't get to sleep until around 2...darned arthralgia...and every time I got up to stoke the fireplace I looked out a window. Now it's sunny but just plain cold. More cold. Continuing cold. Can you tell I'm wearing thin when it comes to winter? I would genuinely trade the 15 degree highs for 8 inches of snow. Which I may get a chance to do this weekend, :lau But in all seriousness I can deal with the snow better than the cold and we just don't seem to be getting a real break in the sub freezing highs this year.

Just got finished with breakfast. Oatmeal with chocolate chips on it (think oatmeal choco chip cookies:drool) and toast. Waiting for the temps to come up a bit before I trudge out to water and feed. Won't even try to coax them outside. I opened the pop door for the bantam boys yesterday and two came out and stood outside the door briefly before retreating back inside....my own feathered Puxatony Phils.

Does that mean 6 more weeks of winter?:duc:hit

What if a couple of them were lost and followed you home? He couldn't say no then, right??
As far as I know I'd have to drive a couple hours south just to see some so the "following" thing wouldn't work but maybe, "but honey, I forgot and left the car door open but I didn't see em til I got home". Wonder if that would work?

I've been told the Native Americans left California because it was too problemic, not a good place to live.
The native Americans did not leave California by moving--They died and went to heaven.

Illness like small pocks killed up to 90% or so. The settlers rounded them up and sent them to the missions for slave labor and the conditions and illness took them out.

Many were also hunted down and killed by folks like Peter Lassen and etc.

Read about Ishi, last of his tribe for a Story. His tribe moved up into the sierras and they lived there until the last one but Ishi died. Ishi followed the tracks down and wound up in Sacramento.

He died of TB.
