The Old Folks Home

There is something REALLY not right about that. One of the MW, router or computer has a problem. Is the MW between the router and computer??

Yes, in nearly a direct line. The microwave is about 30' from the router, with the computer about 10' from the microwave.

My son got screwed on a house(distant state) inspection. Before buying he asked the real estate lady for a recommendation. Ha! The guy she had do it- did nothing. He said he wasn't allowed to open anything that was closed. He couldn't go up on roof, He couldn't check appliances that weren't plugged in.

There ended up being endless defects - garage door opener didn't work but, it was NOT plugged in so no one knew. Dishwasher leaked badly but, again who knew. on and on. Yes, my son was a young total novice, didn't even watch the TV programs on buying homes & inspections etc. He got a royal screwing. Bought the townhouse (they call them condos where he lives. Paid through the nose for a worthless inspection. He should have sued , very painful lesson and a lot smarter since then.

I felt so badly for him. He ended up making many costly repairs. But is much more savvy now.

After he put in wood floors, new appliances etc, the next door neighbor( connected unit) flooded badly and ruined everything he had put in., while he was at work. The neighbor only put in temp.fixes to save money, and it could and very would have flooded again.

Neighbor did manage to sell his unit and thankfully the new people replaced everything and upgraded and made a whooping profit re-selling it.

But my son had a miserable time getting things replaced & repaired. The experts were not. The appliances brought in were faulty. Had to return bad stuff. Repairmen didn't know how to properly repair . Had to get second repair to fix the first repairs and return faulty new products. Installers goofed up and so on. True nightmare.:hit

Ahh, computer talk. I sneak past those. I remember the having a CB radio in the car. Playing hide and seek with that. Fun times! My Uncle had a Ham. Would tell us who he had been talking to somewhere in the world. I remember when pagers were a thing, but at fisrt, only Drs. and lawers had them. Then! I got a phone in the 90's that didn't have a cord. Well, except for the one plugged into the wall for the base. But, I could walk around the house without a cord. I looked in the mirror the other day and thought, wow, I look like my mom. Now, that wasn't the first time I've done this. Started looking like my mom in her letter days for a while back now. This poem about sums up some thoughts. Don't have the whispy white hair though..yet. My mom never did. Where has the time gone? I'm actually on a...... smart phone typing this out. Something I swore I would never own. But here I am. I do ok on computers, something I never thought I would get, until Windows came along. No more just orange letters on a black screen. So, pretty happy.. enough with the amount of tech I do know for an..older ... lady.

I'd say! Nightmare may be an understatement! That's sad. :(

It would be worth testing what happens if you move the router to the other side of the MW. I am ASSUMING it is "waves" causing the problem and not that they are both on the same circuit (or even if that would matter).

Can't move the router, but when I move the computer (laptop) closer to the router and away from the microwave, the interference doesn't happen. Wifi speed tests at that end of the house (past the microwave) are pathetically slow; my son's phone can get a usable signal from the router nearly 100' down the driveway in the same direction.
