The Old Folks Home

Bunnylady, how big of a nest box do you use for your does?

Depends on the size of the doe. My does range from Netherland Dwarf does that don't even weigh 2 lbs, to Harlequins that weigh in excess of 9 lbs, so I have several sizes.

Fortunately, we bought our house with a VA loan. A very thorough inspection is required to pass. It took 3 inspectors an entire day. New homes usually qualify, but older homes rarely pass the inspection. The seller has to agree to the terms of the inspection, in writing. Even the lending institutions here require a basic inspection, to ensure the home is worth the amount of the loan. Most of the listings that can't pass even the most basic of inspections, say "cash, or private financing only". Ours passed with flying colors.

Say for the Netherlands?

Well, they are made out of scrap plywood, so the exact outside dimensions vary with the thickness of the plywood, but the internal measurements are about 8"x8"x12".

Hmm I didn't know bunnies could weigh so much

There are several breeds that weigh 10 lbs or more. The Flemish Giant weighs at least 12 lbs; I have seen some that weigh 18 - 20 lbs.

Thanks! I tend to overestimate how big a box they need so i put lots of hay in. Love those red Flemish!
