Faraday cage is a metal box that protects electronics from solar flares or EMPs.
looks like I kicked off a neat conversation when I mentioned I had a couple emergency things in a Faraday box. My "cage" is actually just a five gallon bucket lined and sealed. I want to pick up a couple Faraday bags (nice ones on Amazon) but I'm scouting for some lower priced larger ones.

Hey Perchie! So glad you are sounding like you are bit more back among the living. Boy, we sure pay for all the fun spent in our younger days don't we?

Well, they are made out of scrap plywood, so the exact outside dimensions vary with the thickness of the plywood, but the internal measurements are about 8"x8"x12".

There are several breeds that weigh 10 lbs or more. The Flemish Giant weighs at least 12 lbs; I have seen some that weigh 18 - 20 lbs.
I used to have a Belgium Hare I rescued when I was a kid that was so large he would actually get out of his cage, kick the kitchen screen door open, then stand in the middle of the kitchen and stomp on the floor so hard he could rattle the dishes and wouldn't quit until I came downstairs in the morning and fed him! I would laugh when my big brothers friends would jump up on the furniture when he decided to "visit".

Ok, new router and an AC wireless adapter. The problem is that there are only three channels on the 2.4Ghz range that does not have interference. The new standard allow 5Ghz which has a lot of channels to use.

Our router can do both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, but DS shut off the 5Ghz signal because its range is only about to the end of the hall - maybe half as far as the 2.4.

Is that true ONLY when the MW is running??

No, and the representatives our provider sends out here just kind of shrug and act like, "what do expect from a WiFi signal?"

We now have an external WiFi antenna for my computer; it has significantly improved reception. I'm just waiting for BB2K to start advocating for an antenna of her own . . . .

Cute bunnies. My dad had a hundred. Remember when I was a kid handling the babies, once, the mom ate them all and dad said it was because I touched them. :hit IDK?

This may have been a not-unusual stress response many, many years ago, but in over 30 years of breeding rabbits, I have had exactly one doe that savaged her litter, and since she did it more than once and at times when absolutely nothing had changed to cause her stress, I think it was just her problem. Most people are pretty hands-on with their rabbits these days; any animal that stresses out that easily gets taken out of the program and replaced with one that is more laid-back and can deal with domestication.

Up date on meds... went to my regular doc yesterday and we discussed my pain issues... NSAIDS are bad for people with high blood pressure at the rate I was taking them. Aleve was fantastic but I gained ten pounds in water weight just around my ankles. I quit taking them before surgery and lost ten pounds. I was in major pain for about three days and then it tapered off. Till Tylenol could handle the peaks.

But I was still left with pain at night.... from inflamation which is what NSAIDS are best at. Which kept me awake with my knees screaming at me.... Add in to that Diabetic nerve pain which is in its onset... my feet... icepicks pryingb at my knees and needles prying at my feet... Till the point where I was rubbing my feet raw up against each other trying to stop the pain.

Doc prescribed Gabapentin.... Which is a cousin of Lyrica... its an anti seiesure med... but its also used to calm nerve ends... First night NO KNEE or foot pain.... For the first half of the night... By morning pain was back but I had a good nights sleep.

Not to worry its something that has to be taken daily and as I get accustomed to it the dose increases up to three caps a day.... it builds up in your system.

Hi Deb! I've been on Gabapentin for years for neuropathy. I was able to get away with just morning and evening for a long time but the neuropathy finally progressed to where I now must take 3X most of the time. Works well for me and I have no problems with it to speak of unless I forget to take it. Then I'll have a crazy mood swing. Wish they had warned me about that. Thought I was going thru menopause again (or worse) until I connected the dots! My poor DH thought I had went Jeckle and Hyde on him! Doesn't get rid of symptoms entirely for me but that's ok, the level is livable. (I also still deal with the bone pain connected to the CML) I know my onc would increase my prescription if I asked (he has offered) but I don't like the way it messes with your brain chemistry and besides, take more than I need now and it may not continue to work for me later as the neuropathy progresses. (neuropathy for me is a side effect of the Leukemia and the drugs I had to take to control it which were also what damaged my pancreas causing the T2 diabetes which also causes neuropathy, you get the picture)

yep.... Being thrown off horses more than a hundred times.... Your bucket is grounded right? should help...

the other night while checking facts I found a great search results..... https://backyardbrains.com/experiments/faraday

Just keep in mind and watch for this info The cage can have holes.... but they have to be smaller than the height of the wave .... So if the microwave reaches an eighth of an inch the hole has to be smaller than an eighth. They also cannot turn corners.

There are special seals that you can buy for cabinet doors... they just stick on they have double sided tape on one side. They will either bite into the metal or have a corresponding seal on the oother side of the door.

still looking for the seals....
