I was outside for about an hour this morning. Thousands of snow geese were flying over the whole time. Amazing sight. The sun was at the right angle that it was flashing off the wings of the white geese making the sky look like it was sparkling.

No artist could paint the breathtaking scene that nature produced. I'm glad I was able to witness the sight.

A friend back in western IL wrote me two days ago that she and her husband had driven past a field that was solid snow geese. She said it was like it was covered with snow. I suspect what I saw was that giant flock on the move after three days of lousy flying weather.

I got half the coop cleaned out and sprayed! 2 and a half wagon loads worth. Not many shavings since it has not been long since i did it. Danged mites are back. And now one of my pullets is limping. Chicken keeping is hard work and can be discouraging. I think only 2 or 3 of the Polish are laying. They hatched in August so i was hoping for better since i have 8 of them!

They really stuffed themselves this morning, between slop and a bit of scratch plus digging up bugs! Look at her crop!

I went and checked on the kale patch now that the snow is gone, was going to give the birds some.
It's all gone and something planted a couple wheelbarrow loads of these round seeds .....
