The Old Folks Home

:lol::lau:gig
That's my predator defense, just say a prayer.
Been working pretty good so far. I've lost a few to hawks through the yrs but none lately. Lost one giant hen last yr, giant rooster beat the crap out of it, fox didn't get to eat it but it was mortally wounded. Lost some broody hatched chicks last yr to a skunk, skunks gone too.
Not too bad for many yrs having coops that are not predator proof, always open pop doors, and free ranging.
Is that what does it?
Do you have a dog at your place?

Dog and God protect the flock!

I've been thinking about quail. Would like to clean my big coop out and use it for a couple of milk goats but not sure if I can handle it, maybe will, not sure. Downsizing chickens anyway, just going to use small coop and tractors for them. Big coop would make a great quail coop, easy to install a wire floor if I wanted also.
All depends on if my birds give enough eggs for easter HAL, if not I'm going to take a chance on EBay quail hatching eggs. See some James Marie meat makers on there, looks like a reputable breeder, sells tons.
Where will you get the quail eggs!

Hi everyone.
Cute pup.
Last month dh had listenen to the guys at work talk about the walking dead show every day for ever. So he ran across the show running a marathon on a Sunday. So he wanted to see what all the guys were taking about. So he sat there watched it all day. I was busy doing chores the first two weeks. Then the third Sunday I watched it with him. Bad move. Then he recorded every Sunday marathon since. And watched it every evening to get caught up for the new season. So we have been lost in zombie land!
I can't stand all the gross scene's so I go out of the room or turn away through the gross part's. Now the new season has started and I've realized I can't stand the show. But dh has decided there's nothing else to watch.
The TV in the den is so old the picture is hard to see. I may have to buy another one to get away from these zombies!
Time for a new TV!

They cost a lot less for a bigger TV now too

Thanks, NotA.

I still watch The Walking Dead. They have not forgotten about the survival aspect entirely, thus Alexandria, Hilltop, and the rest of the colonies, then the introduction of Negan, and his group. I'm sick of Negan, and ready to move on.

If I have to look at it, I hope Negan is done away with quickly! He makes me sick!

Thank goodness. But they pics seem to start getting little spots where the pixels look funny. Or they do something weird. I don't know how to explain it. But it seems to me others are seeing it also. There are a ton of year old big screen tv's for sale cheap!

Good dog! Sure beats having a cat dump a half dead mouse in your living room.
I'd rather that than the bloody remains or barfed up mouse!

Dad had to quit because his eyesite was damaged. He got a metal chip in his eye when he was a machinist. They had to use a magnet to get it out. So his depth perception was not good enough to fly a plane any more.
Doesn't make sense. My Uncle flew and so did some of his friends. One of them had only one eye. He could do everything including takeoffs and landings. Depth perception (which I've never had) is presumably good to about 15'. There are other cues that give you information regarding things like distance ... but they have to be familiar objects. Obviously harder if there are no other objects around but that usually isn't the real world.

Morning everyone!
Too far behind again so I just hope you all had a good weekend.

@perchie.girl - forgot to warn you about some of the crazy side effects of the Gaba, oops. Should have elaborated a bit about it messing with your brain chemistry. (that's why I refuse to increase my dosage, at least for now) Anyway, the big one for me is if I forget a dose (or go too long inbetween) I have crazy mood swings like I'm going thru menopause all over. Poor DH until I figured out what was going on! It's like having mental hot flashes! :lau
Never had the nightmare thing but then I almost never have bad dreams. One chemo drug I was on was known to cause very vivid bright colored dreams. I was the only one I knew that actually missed them  . When I first started the Gaba I was having really odd dreams but then I tend to be odd anyway so I didn't really notice the difference at first. :p
LOL... I read the drug facts online and was aware of the possible mood swing stuff... Yesterday and the day before I feltMy brain was like a hula girl

first day I just felt odd and wiggly. Second day it was more and I realized it was side effects.

Today I am fine... Night mares are common with me I have learned to watch rather than be scared. So when they ramped up it was like watching some of the scenes from Walking dead... Have no patience for that kind of show...

My dosage is 300 MG three times a day, By the way

My Sixth Grade Teachers Husband was not so lucky. He was a crop duster and hit power lines...She was a widow after that!
Dad did some of that... I saw one Crop dusting at NIGHT crossing Arizona.... CRAZY Certifiable.... is all I can say... Fixed wing air craft... Hed pass over the field Shoot straight up in the air just enough to do a turn on ONE WING TIP then straight down to level out and pass another row. lights went off after he leveld out lights went on just before he shot up in the air.

Telephone lines on each end of the field...

I tried for his license again in 67 maybe the rules have changed since then ?

Made it back from town in one piece with a boatload of groceries. The road was pretty gnarly in places. About every 500 feet I'd hit a bad mucky patch and have to fight the wheel but the blacktop was good. At least the sun is still out and will dry things out a bit before it rains again on Wednesday.

Somebody at the store told me that they saw their first vultures over the weekend so that is a sure sign of spring coming here. The turkey vultures are such funny birds. Every time DH flew his RC glider, they would come and circle with it. Guess they figured that big funny looking bird knew where the good road kill was.:gig

@bruceha2000 you ain't lived till your dog gorges on a fresh kill rabbit and about three hours later ralphs it up in the middle of the dining room floor. :sick The smell is bad....real bad...gag inducing bad and I have a cast iron stomach but not with that one. I'm gagging, DH is throwing open windows and the appearance is like a transporter accident from an episode of Star Trek. Thank God they don't do that too often.
