The Old Folks Home

Morning all.

Nice weather here, Very windy yesterday but it has calmed down considerably and the sun is out.

Colonoscopy....gonna have to catch me, tackle me, hog tie me and use a tranquilizing dart in order to subdue me. I'm not saying they do not supply a service and don't find problems. I know over three people who have either wound up in ICU, the hospital, a nursing home or dead from undergoing a colonoscopy-enough to be wary of them and suspicious of the skill of the doctor who does them.

Cap, stay safe. Look at all the firewood! We have a big tree down in our timber. We call it firewood from heaven as we don't have to down the tree-the most dangerous part of harvesting wood.

Made a big decision today. No garden this year. It was a painful decision to make but after two weeks of near crippling back pain that has had me living on muscle relaxers and pain meds, I decided that I just cannot risk doing the weeding and hoeing that takes so much bending and straightening.

My plan is to plant some squash and pumpkins. Gonna try some container planting. Maybe plant one or two tomato plants, but that will be it for this year. Our neighbor suggested planting only what I really enjoyed and down scale and they were wise words from a young woman.

I woke up this morning with minimal discomfort and haven't had to take any medication for pain or muscle spasms. It feels so good not to be in pain and be able to walk straight without being hunched over. So I'm done fighting it. I see the doctor in two weeks and still plan to see a rheumatologist this summer. Hopefully next year will be better but this year.....not going to risk it.
Feel better!

Sometimes we need to realize our limits. Can you grow a smaller container garden?

I'm going to try, Ron. I was up in the hayloft the other day and saw a few things that when I saw them thought, hmmmm. Possible container? So my thoughts are definitely leading me in that direction.
Perfect!

There are a lot of ways to compensate for a disabling condition like chronic back pain

Driveway was atrocious today, snowblower on lawn tractor kept getting clogged, wet nasty snow, tractor kept burying itself in mud, was a battle. Over a foot so far and another coming. Over 7,000 in our county without electric, ours at home still on and work.
My ride to work this afternoon on a state road. Little old cemetery in the corner, lol.

Lovely little cemetery!

Tell me something good, y'all. Anyone have fun weekend plans? Anyone do something kind for someone else today?

I'm hoping my BIL does something kind for me before I go home tonight and plows our mess of a driveway.

Looks like I might not have to worry about it next yr, DW just sent me a pic on Craigslist of a Ford 8n with a front plow, and chains, just what I want/need been begging for one for a long time, must be she's warming up to the idea. I don't want another plow truck, tractor has more use.
And they have kits to drop a flathead V8 in those 8n's, so I'd finally have the '50s Ford hotrod I've always wanted win win Lol.
