The Old Folks Home

I'm in Middle Tennessee and we are still in the 80's here with air conditioner on full blast lol. If its cool enough in the mornings I usually turn off the air and open all the windows to let the house air out some.

In other news, my dad finally went and had his skin cancer removed!! I did not even know he was planning on it. The removed a place from the side of his neck about the size of 2 quarters side by side. It took 10 stitches just on the inside, mom wasn't sure how many are on the outside. He is in some pain, but doing well. They are sending it off for testing to determine if they need to remove more and then will do more testing on him to make sure that they got it all and that it did not spread to lymph nodes or anything. He has had this for years now and I'm so glad that he has had it taken care of. He will be 60 the last day of January and I need my daddy for many more years to come. His biopsy from a couple weeks ago showed it was basal cell carcinoma.

Hoping that your Daddy is just fine, as I'm older then he is and I'm just fine (outside of knees that don't like too much bending, fingers that don't grip hard enough, and other silly things like that)

if he's had it for years its not melanoma but a more benign growth like basal cell carcinoma.

my guess you will have to put up with him for a good while yet

Good luck! Keep us updated.

I was born in Kansas City, MO. Lived in Florida for quite a while..then bunny, I lived where you are for a very short time..it's beautiful! Then to Va. then to Utah. I've lived in Utah since the 60's. Now I'm approaching the age of 60 come Nov. Where did the time go anyway? Well, I love Utah. I put up with the cold winters, and the warm summers. I love the different seasons. The colors are changing on our big ol mountains now. Beautiful!
Ak, where did you live in Utah? I am in Utah county, little ol Spanish Fork. :)

Hey neighbor!! I was born and raised in KCMO also!! I left in '78 though.

My mom had melanoma cancer-- they can treat these things!!! SHe is among the new statistics of survival.

Hope they were able to remove it all!! I'm sure it is painful

Oz, it was basal cell. I hope to have him around for forever (I realize that's not possible). He is a great dad and is now working on teaching my 15 yr old daughter to drive. Her mother doesn't have the nerves or patience lol.
