The Old Folks Home

I thought they were $4. Wishful thinking I guess.

Not much in a box either.

What, you thought you were buying cookies?! You were making a donation to the Girl Scouts, and the cookies are a bonus - you are basically getting to choose your gift.

Same thing when it comes to all those items that the schools get kids to flog to raise money. I've often thought, "why don't we just collect donations, instead of sticking friends and neighbors with things that they don't really want?" At least the cookies go away . . . :p

Good morning everyone

Yes happy Saturday everyone.

Now that the steroids are finally kicking in, I feel like I'm going to live. :celebrate Now to remember not to overdo it with my back and hope the doc can finish working out my kinks on Tuesday.

@perchie.girl! How ya doin?! Great seeing your name pop up. Yes, that is exactly what I think I am going to do. Those turkey fryers can be had for something like 50 dollars here or I can spend a bit more and get one of those two burner camp stoves. I need a summer kitchen also. I usually use the grill which has a burner on it but can always use more burners.

Cap is that the new problem child incubator in you avatar? Hopefully you can form a bond with it. If you can get it working I see a lot of chicks in your future.

My four go into lock down today. They are running a day early so today is day 18 for them. I'll mark air cells tonight and that will be it but those cells have really developed over the past 24 hours and the embryos are up in the top of the egg so they are good to go.:fl

I always feel a sense of apprehension along with exaltation at this point in time. I tell DH that it is up to God and the chicks now.

Just got our tvs back on. Yesterday, Dh upgraded our internet from 75/75 MBps to 150/150MBps. We get tv through our internet provider. Everything was fine until about 2:30 am, then a message popped up saying our cable had been disconnected, possibly due to a billing issue, and a phone number to call. Dh called, and no we don't owe anything. They started troubleshooting the problem. When they switched the speeds on their end, they removed the cable boxes from service, and forgot to add them back in.

Dd #1, and grandkids are spending the night tonight. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm just getting over a stomach flu, so I'm a bit on the tired side. Extra coffee, and an extra multivitamin are on the menu.

Sorry I am not reading too rwell right now. long story... but you could buy a separate burner just for using with the pressure cooker... Propane cooks hotter than natrual gas.

Been thinking about using a turkey Deep fry burner for my summer kitchen design. BE awesome for canning.... they have sturdy legs and at a lower height so you dont have to reach up and over a hot contaienr to lift out hot jars.... Better for the back and better loading all round

Home brewing catalogs sell the same thing as turkey fryers but with low pressure high volume bigger burners. More adjustable down to a simmer, and are quiet don't sound like a jet engine.

micro, good luck with your hatch!

BTW, light yellow is a good color for a kitchen. It's bright and sunny looking, yet neutral enough so everything blends in well.

chicka, chill. Everything falling through the floor would be a lot worse than the renovations your going through now. I like the colors you've picked.

Better than buying raffle tickets, at least you have a much better chance of enjoying something for your $
I mentioned to a guy at work I've been buying raffle tickets at our county fair from the Sportsmen's Federation, and a couple others for 20yrs and haven't ever won anything and don't know anyone that has. There's ten things you can win from a rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun, binoculars, fishing stuff, etc...
He says your DONATING your money to a good cause, that's what it's for.
Hmm, but I want to win something.
Says then go play them carny games, maybe you can win a teddy bear.

THat exact one is what I was drawing up in my summer kitchen sketches.... Youve seen a floor sink right? I drew it up in a larger floor sink so that if I was using it to scald birds any splash over would just go down a drain... Then I could just strip the whole thing and clean it with a mop.

The whole sink area would be setup to Either do canning OR do processing in a good flow... There would be a pot filling faucet just for the canner area... then two separate faucets for the sink area... Step saving workspace...
