The Old Folks Home

Better than buying raffle tickets, at least you have a much better chance of enjoying something for your $
I mentioned to a guy at work I've been buying raffle tickets at our county fair from the Sportsmen's Federation, and a couple others for 20yrs and haven't ever won anything and don't know anyone that has. There's ten things you can win from a rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun, binoculars, fishing stuff, etc...
He says your DONATING your money to a good cause, that's what it's for.
Hmm, but I want to win something.
Says then go play them carny games, maybe you can win a teddy bear.
When they started sending the kids out from school to sell wrapping paper or icecream. the Tag was to help with school supplies like paper and pencils and scissors.... I said UM No...
I would rather go down to the school and give them a case of paper... And At this point I cant have cookies as much as I like em.... IF I knew which troop was going to get money.... I would donate directly to that troop. Supplies...

Sorry I get a little Pi$$y over sending the kids out to peddle...

I thought they were $4. Wishful thinking I guess.
Depends where you live apparently. They are $5 here now. DD2 was selling until 5 years ago and they were only $3.50 then. I've paid $4 I think as recently as last year, was surprised at the price this year. I have no idea what percentage goes to the baker, the council and the troop that sold the cookies but the troop doesn't set the price, probably the council does.

Yes happy Saturday everyone.

Now that the steroids are finally kicking in, I feel like I'm going to live. :celebrate Now to remember not to overdo it with my back and hope the doc can finish working out my kinks on Tuesday.

@perchie.girl! How ya doin?! Great seeing your name pop up. Yes, that is exactly what I think I am going to do. Those turkey fryers can be had for something like 50 dollars here or I can spend a bit more and get one of those two burner camp stoves. I need a summer kitchen also. I usually use the grill which has a burner on it but can always use more burners.

Cap is that the new problem child incubator in you avatar? Hopefully you can form a bond with it. If you can get it working I see a lot of chicks in your future.

My four go into lock down today. They are running a day early so today is day 18 for them. I'll mark air cells tonight and that will be it but those cells have really developed over the past 24 hours and the embryos are up in the top of the egg so they are good to go.:fl

I always feel a sense of apprehension along with exaltation at this point in time. I tell DH that it is up to God and the chicks now.
Yes, that is the cheaply made expensive non user friendly thing! Did i mention that so far i hate it? I put my hard won guinea eggs in it. They had better hatch or i am going to give those guys an earful. And that will just be the start. I love a bargain, and when i spend a lot on something i expect quality. I feel like i have been ripped off. But time will tell. I am hoping i am wrong. Oh , and thanks for asking. Sorry about the rant! :lau

I'm both looking forward to and dreading the arrival of the Girl Scout Cookies. Chocolate is one of the major food groups. I gave up having M&Ms in the house long ago and recently had to forego chocolate chips to put in my oatmeal due to the fact that once the bag was open, that was it.

Once upon a time I could eat whatever I wanted.....what ever happened to those day, oh yeah, I know.....OLD AGE!

I spent that till they nuked my thyroid and I turned 57, then some one hit the fat key.
Ma said my brother and I had hollow legs growing up and if it didn't move fast enough it would be eaten :gig

Thanks Clue. Ds #2 is standing in the hole on the ground adding support beams for the new floor. He said he would come back next weekend to help finish up.

Good luck on everyone's hatches!

Debi like your floor sink idea if you have room. For it.
I worked for a restaurant that had one they are very handy.

The Girl Scout cookies just came in the mail and not a moment too soon. We are having a Superchemicalgirl sort of day here. So we are sitting here with a sleeve of cookies each taking a break.

Not exactly what I want to be known for, but yes, accurate.

Have to work tomorrow, now, too.

Worked 4 hours today, thankfully only 4, then came home and walked the dog 4 miles. So very grateful to have access to the snowmobile trail along the power lines not far from my house. It is a very nice walk, right along the lake edge for most of it and a good portion of it through the woods. It's still snowing, and the snow was very deep in parts because the snowmobiles hadn't had a long enough time to pack it down.

short crawl space under the hwhole house a skinny person can crawl on hands and knees under it. I want a floor sink in the kitchen and the living room somewhwere hidden under a grate.

The summer kitchen will be on a deck specifically built for it OUtside of the kitchen propper... as will the storage pantry... Coolest side of the house year round.
