@Beercan, cornmeal pancakes. Are those like Johnny Cakes?
Not sure if they are exactly the same, or 'hoe cakes', I call them pancakes?
Funny most corn based recipes originate with Native American recipes that we made our own, and the South claims. Johnny cakes were first called Journey cakes, and before that Shawnee Cakes after the tribe in the Tennessee Valley. Even our northern Iroquois tribes had recipes for them. "Rhode Island johnnycake" first appeared in print in 1739.
I get Hodgson Mill stone ground whole grain.
2 cups corn meal
1/4 cup sugar
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt (I use 1/4, don't like when they turn out salty)
1-1/2 cups milk
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 egg whites (I use the whole eggs)
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups blueberries (if you have them)

Fry them up just like pancakes. Makes quite a few.

I had a dead Robin in my garden the other day. I buried it. When i was lost in Lynchburg i saw a lot of robins eating berries. What has berries this time of year?
A couple of months ago I was on my lunch time walk here on campus when a dead blue jay fell out of a tree. Something had beheaded it! It was very strange to see. Some predator must have gotten it an it fell as I was walking by.

Kind of felt like I was in a Twilight Zone episode

Kids made me breakfast. Cornmeal pancakes, sausage and eggs. Gosh it's a lot of work when the kids make breakfast.
Nice having our own eggs again.

I love it when people make me breakfast!

I grew up with corn meal everything! :drool At least from my one grandmother... I think because she came from a poor family, that had been poor ranchers for generations. For them cornmeal was all they could afford.

although I recognize the name of Hellmans I did not think it was here
Best foods is the same thing. Hellmans is eastern part of the US and Best Foods is the western part.
