Besides Anchorage where else did you go while you were here?
We were supposed to catch the cruise in Vancouver, didn't happen, long story...(No pilot/stewardesses in Pensacola, FL...missed the boat, 16 hours of cruise time on a 5 day plan...oh well...they booked the flight thankfully so it's on them to recoup us-travel insurance)
Flew in to Juneau, spent 3 days there, loved having time to root around, spent the day hiking at Mendenhall Glacier...
We took the Yukon and Denali route once on land again. Skagway, Whitehorse, Dawson City, panned for gold, river tour, CHICKEN ALASKA, yoohoo (Got my chicken fix on there and at Rita's Road House-haha)!!!,
Tok, Fairbanks, spent a couple of days in Denali, toured/hiked the park, awesome...through Talkeetna, would like to spend some time there...then on to Anchorage for a couple days. About 13 days worth...Took the a train out of Whitehorse and the McKinley Express up the Alaska/Canada highway, then onto to large buses, long, long, rides but nice scenery...Finally got to the Canada/Alaska border at the Top of The World, humbling...saw some moose, Dall sheep (?), eagles, but not a whole lot of widelife...it was really the trip of a lifetime for us, tiring, but loved the history of the early pioneers. I personally love, love the AK people, they have a quirky sense of humor, my kind of folks...
I don't know how, but if we do get to return (not with a tour group), this time I would like to stay more along the coast lines, Homer.... was really trying to get more of the authentic AK experience. Such an awesome place! We return and continue watching the TV programs and it is really stirring to the soul. Chirp
Oops, double posted the bear...now THAT was a freaky experience, he was eating the salmon...right there where we were hiking! Glad we got the photo.
