Sadly since you moved away summers here include burnt up trees like in the comic!

Still Brown in the summer. Isn't that why it is called the Golden State?

Summer can be brown here also. Followed by brush fires and the sound of sirens. The last few summers have been wet and hot. Usually by the end of July things are starting to go brown. This past summer things didn't brown out until December. Now I'm tired of brown and want green. 5 years ago we had temps in the mid 100s and no rain much of the summer. I hate it when the grass crunches under your feet.

This year we have rain! We may have green on the foothills for another week....And the brown and dead....

Here the grass starts turning brown about the end of July. Unless we don't get enough rain. But here we usually get afternoon storms from the heat. With temps over 100*.
