Juneau is not quite as snowbound for the most part think the thing that struck me most
when I was told they could not bury someone till summer and better to do cremation Bears might dig a cemetery???????

I don't understand that. unless they were hand digging. A backhoe does just fine digging through frozen snow. Snow blow it clear first. No big deal.
