The Old Folks Home

Oes I just love your dog he is so adorable

Of course we missed you, just thought you had a better offer from a different old folks home.

If you're older than 60 and not on any immunity-changing medications (read: steroids, biologic injection for Crohns/rheumatoid arthritis, etc) then I would think seriously about getting the zoster vaccine. You may still get shingles, but the outbreak will be less severe if you're vaccinated.

I'm still waiting for the pharmacist to call me that my FluMist Nasal is in. I'm a sissy when it comes to needles.

Two weeks from now will be the first anniversary of my good friend's son passing away at 7 years old. Today would have been his 8th birthday. He loved helping others and I am trying to get up the nerve to donate blood in his memory next week.
the wont mind blood with a little xanax in it

Quote: Shingles is one of my dreads of getting older. I work really hard to keep mmune system healthy.

Hard to lose a child.. If youcan't donate, many other options. I used to to the platelet donation-- universal donor. TOok a long time: several hours with two lines set up. DOn't volunetter for that SCG ! many ways to "help" if needles are not for you.

OMG - I went to bed and now I will never catch up!!!!!!! My you guys talk!!!!!!!!

I am trying to find the bits that you wanted me to reply to?

YES I do have an OES. - The one in my avatar is called Murphy.

Sadly we lost him last July 4th from Canine hemangiosarcoma

It was all very sudden and quite a big shock as he was only 7 yrs old. It fair broke my heart because he was "my mate!"and I cried for months!
Then DH got me this one!
BAILEY

He is now 14 months old and wonderful!!!!!!

Oes
Very hard to lose a friend at any age.

Bailey has the same coloring of my girl-- she was a retired show dog, just not perfect enough so we gave her a home. Great dog. Coat a PIT A . Full buzz clip once a year as we lived in the country with lots of leaves, dirt, sea shore mud and woods. A wooly bear of a dog. 4 hours a week grooming was not possible.

I had the shingles shot last year - no problem. I guess it means I have grown up because I go for shots without being forced into it. I did have chicken pox as a kid, my brother did too and got the shot. Medicare pays for it. I wanted the whooping cough thing too but, it was very expensive and Medicare doesn't pay on it. So didn't have it.

I've also had the pneumonia shot. Shots are mostly okay. Blood draws I nearly faint or puke because they never can find a good vein and keep describing the problems they are having, & stab me repeatedly. Geez!!

One nurse told me a butterfly needle is best for me and that she wouldn't do it until she was certain she found a good vein and she would only stick me once. She was right, so I always ask if she is around. She was a phlebotemist (know that is spelled so wrong) she says they have further training in doing it than the regular nurses.

keep some veins for the docs as their skills are worse than a nurse, and keep my rolly vein for the phllebotomist.

Also, fill up on water and be very hydrated-- much easier to hit the vein the first time and no dogging. . .. oops lol digging!
