So sorry you are not feeling well Deb. Hugs and hope you feel better soon.

I feel dead, ruined my week and beautiful 70+ outside and I just woke up to get ready for work. I agreed to 3:30-3:30am again this week, 20hrs OT is nice but week ruined ugghh. Couldn't get to sleep when I got home, slept 8-noon.
Good news is though I put three naked necks in the wood boiler shut down and slow bbq smoked them for 4hrs while I slept hoping I don't ruin them, they look yum.
hope the food is good... glad you are getting extra money... but yeah, the hours ... bites

I have never had anything so awful as radiation I do feel for you sending prayers and hugs

The vent has two parts. One is connected to digestion and the other is connected to reproduction. When the egg comes out, it closes the opening to digestion. Likewise, when poop comes out, the opening to the reproductive tract is closed.

So....poop and eggs do not actually come out of the same opening.

Is that understandable or do we need a graphic?[/QUOTE/

Please post the graphic not sure the explanation works

Nooooo, that was 300 dollars for two tires. Had to get extra heavy duty due to our roads. Can you believe that? 300 dollars for two tires! In some ways that's probably cheap.

@CapricornFarm, glad to hear that the MOHS surgery is behind you. Feel better. DH went in yesterday for his latest snip and burn session. One biopsy and about 15 that they 'burned' with liquid nitrogen. He considers that to be a good checkup!:th

My little mamma, Daisy has three beautiful tiny chicks that she is very proud of. 3 for 3 with one infertile. Not a bad turnout for a first time broody. She is looking particularly tranquil today after three weeks of pecking my hands raw every time I reached into her pen to change her water and food. All three eggs came from my OEGB BBR hens that I got from Orscheln's last spring. One chick is yellow tan color. I looked at it and asked it if was a magpie chick somebody left in the nest for me. Seriously looking forward to getting a closer look at that one. All the males in with those hens are solid BBRs although two have some cochin blood in them so that may be the genetic surprise with it.

You can see it splits into two at the cloaca
I researched.... it turns out when not in use both tracts end before the opening. Whenever you butcher a chicken... there is clearly only one hole.... and everything ends in a little pouch area before the exit.

However, when laying an egg the oviduct extends out of that hole, keeping the egg from touching any of the poopy cloaca area.

So you are correct in that the egg doesn't touch anything.
