The Old Folks Home

Ok Dog experts... woke up this morning with My dog Brandy passed out infront of the TV... In a very satisfied way... In the middle of the floor was the roasted chicken container from the chicken we had last night for dinner.

It had had the carcas minus legs and wing bones... So back ribs and the breast bone area... Lots of tid bit meat I was going to pick out and put in soup. I thought Dean had put it away Dean thought I had put it away last night....

So...Is this an emergency vet visit Or a Watch and wait thing... those chickens are so well cooked the bones are almost chalky.

SGC you are not the only one with a problem child... Mine is seven years old now.

Your right that chicken is actually pressure cooked then seasoned and grilled or whatever so keep an eye out but this should pass no issue

Sounds like a watch, and wait thing. It's when the bones can splinter that it's an issue, because the splinters can do damage in their digestive system. Boiled, slow cooker, or pressure cooked chicken, the bones usually don't splinter, so it's not an issue.

You too aren't surprised Micro's DH wasn't surprised or you too entered the contest decreasing Micro's chance of winning? ;)
:yuckyuck

Ever have one off those days where you are really busy but don't get anything done?

Or my favorite saying, I've worked all day but only I know what I have accomplished?

Anyway. Bouncing around doing a little bit of everything. Cleaning house, working on firewood, working on terracing work for the deck. One of the little cockerels from my March incubator hatch isn't feeling well so I'm running back and forth checking on him. Those four youngsters are almost 9 weeks old now and I'm thinking maybe the nasty M word is stirring. Little guy is lethargic, standing with his wings drooping and his eyes half closed. I got him to eat a little scrambled egg yolk and saw him drinking but he's just standing there. I told DH that there wasn't anything I could do. It was up to 'Charlie' and God at this point whether he survives the initial infection or not.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm wrong and he's just feeling crappy for a reason that has nothing to do with Marek's:fl

I've been breaking my back for days to. Trying to get everything out of the storage drawers and cupboards I the water bed. Trying to get ready for the new bed that's going to be here tomorrow. I bought a pantry closet to put all the stuff in. It arrived today. So dh and ds will have to put it together tonight.
So we can shampoo the carpet before they bring in the new bed tomorrow. We will have to drain the bed first thing in the morning.
Ds is coming to spend the night to help us. God bless him!

Micro I'm sorry your little rooster is not well. I hope he recovers.

Perchie I hope your dog won't have a bad reaction to eating the chicken.
Our dogs eat chicken bones all the time and they have ne e had a problem with them.

Cynthia your granddaughters are very beautiful.

Scg I have not seen you for a few days are you ok?

Yay... still worriesome
How is your dog doing? Chicken bones being the biggest worry. Having said that, back in the day we gave our dogs everything. Chicken leftover..with bone. Rib leftover .. with bone. Guess we lucked out, no sick dogs, or cats. Now, after having heard all of the dangers of cooked bone, I just dont give it to mine. I used to rescue and foster. It was a big no no. Sounds like your bones got pretty soft. Like someone said, most likely to happen would be the runny poo. :/ Hey, got another mask to try this weekend. Crossing fingers.

Another beautiful granddaughter graduating. :)
