The Old Folks Home

@microchick if you believe addictive why am I not ? have had 3 years but never felt stuck to it
I read the very long wiki on it and it is physically addictive--There will be withdrawl symptoms of you stop it cold turkey. It is not likely to be abused though since it causes some unpleasant side effects if you take too much. It is not used recreationally for the same reason.

All opiods will cause physical addiction and withdraw symptoms. This one is mild though

Cap I'm sorry you dh has to deal with pain. It's a terrible thing

Micro and Penny congrats on the new chicks and hatching chicks.
Micro I'm also sorry you have to deal with pain.
Most old folks have some degree of pain. I sure do. If it gets bad , i take something. If its really miserable, i take something stonger. Right now depression is bothering me worse than pain. My meds only do so much.

It's what you hear on the news and whatever. I actually believe they are only additive if abused. I've been on ultram for 4 years. Sometimes I don't take them because I'm not in a lot of pain. You know Tylenol pain compared to ultram pain. Doesn't bother me going without it either.

Lots of people go for the buzz. No buzz for me. I've read that some people report that they have become hooked taking it as prescribed. Idunno. Hasn't happened to me.

I worked one night as a temp at a drug rehab center and was told about a person who checked in reportedly taking Vicoden by the hundreds.....per day. Couldn't believe it but it was true. Sad is all I can say. I've taken vicoden for pain before. Don't like it at all.

Just came in from last check on the broodies. Iris, my little hen that stepped up to the plate when the hen on those eggs turned abusive to the chick that had just hatched and Iris took over the nest without question, now has three tiny chicks under her. Snow the second hen had one pipped and CoCo has one that has been working on zipping for the last three hours. She keeps kicking the eggs around so the poor little one must feel like a marble in a pot right now.

Glad Iris has three little ones. Both that were dry are darling little chipmunks with bright eye liner. I'm thinking pullets! YAY!

chicka, usually you can get a referral from your primary care physician. With the insurance I have, I don't need a referral, even for a second opinion. It depends on what coverage you have.
We are the same here with military ins. Tri Care is Great! Needed my first referral in years though on my up coming appt. with the MS specialist this month. Oh well, it wasn't hard to get..needed it from our ins. They said ok in no time. Never needed it for all of the other drs....just this one. ??

The only drug that I am 'addicted' to if you want to call it that, is my cardiac medicine. I read that the heart muscle becomes dependent on it and you have to be weaned off of it if you have to quit it.

Scary thought for me as I have taken it since 1978. No buzz there either. Just a nice slow steady heart rate.

@CapricornFarm, so sorry you are not feeling well. Depression sux. Big hug to you.:hugs Remember that you are loved here at the Home.
