We got much needed one and a half inch of rain overnight in a thunderstorm. Everything greened up like magic. We were out by 7:30 to harvest a tree that needed to go because of a wasp infestation. These wasps burrow into the bark and lay their eggs resulting in these 'growths' to form on the tree limbs. This tree was badly infested with them and on it's way out. We had a conservation forester look at them and he commented that they wouldn't kill the tree. I pointed to a cluster of young hickory trees, all dead, all infested with these cankers and said, but those are dead. He just cleared his throat and shuffled away from the area.

While we were working on the 10 inch trunk, cutting it into rounds, about 8 foot worth of log managed to shift right on top of my right foot. I felt two pops then a lot of pain. Hopped around on one foot for awhile. It's swollen tonight but no bruising so the worse I did was just strain it. I'm sitting here with an ice pack on it wishing I had some comfort food in the form of low fat ice cream.

Dont dwell on it too much; if the pain persist maybe go to ER? X-rays will assure you that nothing is broken.. Hope you get better soon..

When one is on a diet low fat ice cream is about as comforting as it gets, LOL!

Nah, no biggie, @chrisb01. I'm always banging myself up one way or another when I'm out in the timber. I don't do ERs unless I have my head in a basket or my legs are facing the wrong way. Too many years working in hospitals to trust hospitals. If you aren't sick when you go in you sure as heck are when you come out.
