The Old Folks Home

micro, hope your foot gets to feeling better.

I was up until about 4 am putting together a bunk bed set. It wasn't just the assembly that took so long, but Dd and I had to rearrange the furniture in the bedroom a couple times, so everything would fit in the room. We got to the last parts of assembly, and discovered that they made it so the ladder would only go in one predetermined spot. That's not where I needed it. Surprise! I had to drill new holes in the top bunk, railing, and bottom bunks, then in the ladder, but I got it fixed just fine, so the ladder is where it needs to be, and sturdy. Seems a bit shortsighted on their part, not to make the ladder adaptable. I know some are, but not this one, and no mention of it either. You get the joy of discovering it when the bed is almost all assembled.

I've got a dozen Black Australorp eggs coming. Tomorrow, I'll be making sure the bator is freshly cleaned, and ready to go.

Good morning all. Yes, thankfully, my foot feels better this morning. The swelling is down and it just feels stiff when I walk. I think most of the trouble came from the fact that my right foot has been flaring the last week or so rolling a big old log on it just didn't help matters any.

Back to the timber today. We finally hit the half way mark on our wood harvest for this year. 4.5 in the barn curing and 4.5 more to go. Thankfully the temps are a bit cooler today.

Will it dry in the barn? I thought it had to be outside where the wind could blow through and do the job.

okay secret when I loose my BF Son wants to take sell the house buy a class C about 30ft show him around the USA
I trust he will consult you on that decision. You may not have a great desire to be "on the road" homeless by then.

I would really appreciate the same confidentiality afforded to me.
I doubt any of your trusted friends will give out info. And there are nearly 13 million people in IL, I don't think we could find you no matter how hard we tried :)

Really guys, if I wanted to be discovered, I would have name, address, email, etc etc. published. I have the full names and addresses of several on line BYCER friends. I like to send folks a surprise now and then with their permission. I said I would not give their private information out to anyone- and never have.

I would really appreciate the same confidentiality afforded to me.

Happy hatching!

And I hope the sender knows how to pack eggs and does not blame the PO if they are scrambled--can be their fault but usually people to a crappy job of packing the eggs

@bruceha2000 the wood cures great in the barn. Our barn, like the majority of Amish built barns around us, has three sides along with a big loft. One whole wall is open and faces the south so we simply pile the wood along the south 'open' wall. We do not stack anything other than our keeper logs. Everything else is random so we get good air flow through it especially since we open all the doors on the barn when we are curing out the wood. Having it under a roof keeps it from having to be tarped, which is a waste of time since the wing here usually makes short work of any tarp, and since our barn is metal sided and roofed. the temp goes high enough inside to help the curing process even with the good air flow.

Yep, agreed. Low fat often has higher sugar. The trick is to get yourself a measuring cup and measure out one serving. A half a cup serving isn't much but when you are craving something sweet and cold on a hot late spring night, it sure hits the spot.

I've lost almost 10 pounds right now. Shooting to loose 15 more before the middle of August when I see the rheumatologist. I've learned that for me the big thing is to watch my serving size and stick with a serving and decrease my carb intake.

I'm sorry Diva... I just posted what I remembered having been posted before... (I think by you yourself :duc:oops:) Hopefully no offense taken. As Bruce said... it's a pretty large area: "The Chicago metropolitan area, or Chicagoland, is the metropolitan area that includes the city of Chicago, Illinois, and its suburbs. With an estimated MSA population of 9.5 million people and CSA population of 9.9 million people, it is the third largest metropolitan area in the United States." from Google. I would never knowingly reveal unknown/non-public personal information about anyone without their permission.
