I thought I answered penny's post, but I guess it didn't post, or something. Okeechobee, Lake Wales, Kissimmee, and mostly the Everglades have been being plagued by constrictors (boas, pythons, and anacondas) The worst affected is the Everglades. Yes, they do hold a hunt every year, but the amatures don't really get very many. Due to our climate, they've thrived here, and their population in the wild has exploded. This year, they've hired professionals to go into the Everglades, and clean out as many of the constrictors as they can.
The constrictors have decimated the wild bird population, not just songbirds, but we have a multitude of exotic birds here. They've decimated the wild boar population, the wild deer population, and even alligators are not safe from them. Nothing is safe from them. They're destroying the food chain of the native species, and destroying their ecosystem.
