The Old Folks Home

And Francis Scott key never had a thought to putting those words to music.... At the time it was a Passionate poem.....

The music was written in 1700s

""The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "To Anacreon in Heaven" (or "The Anacreontic Song"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key's poem and renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", it soon became a well-known U.S. patriotic song. With a range of 19 semitones, it is known for being very difficult to sing. Although the poem has four stanzas, only the first is commonly sung today.""

I used to know the whole thing When I was in Grammar school.... about first or second grade.

That's so interesting Deb..:thumbsup I didn't know that part, it's great to know..:) Thank you for that..:hugs

I started out in Highschool Won a rooster in a raffle..... found him a home at the boarding stable where I kept my horse. then someone gave me some Muscovy Ducklings and we raised em up in the back yard till my mom got tired of Skiing on the back patio.

Those too went to the boarding stable. I was bout fifteen....

Then I built a coop for a friend.... she kept two hens.... But I was builting aviaries for me and mom.

Then When My son was a toddler thats when I really got into chickens. Four EEs from the feed store. I expected to kill at least two thats why I bought four. But they all lived and I did build a coop for them before they grew up.

Such silly birds.... One hen even learned to crow.... By the time she found a voice..... We had a Rooster running back and forth behind the fence.... White and big floppy comb. Oh he was Randy.... He got rehomed to my friend in Ramona.

Then a Dog Got in and killed them all.

I didnt get chickens again till I moved up to the house. Located in Predator Central.... One whole flock was taken one at a time by a bobcat... Then Coyotes. My last flock was taken by coyotes...

NO more long distance chicken raising.... wehn I move back I will do it right.

I wonder why they are holding out.
They'll do something when they figure out the cable companies are being dumped right and left and they don't have people watching their stuff anymore. The latest issue of Consumer Reports has an article on how to dump cable and still watch what you want for less money.

honestly I want the local channels there is a outfit called Sling not sure their linup but do want our local channels for news
Unless you live way out in the sticks, you can probably get all the local channels with an antenna. CR had a little sidebar on those.

We pay 110. For tv and another 110. For internet.
OUCH!

We don't have TV, pretty much nothing interesting anyway. Phone and DSL internet is $125/mo. Only other internet choice would be satellite. Only one phone company option, cell doesn't work the signal goes over the hill and misses our street.

Ya in the city you can get tv, internet and phone for 100. per month. I miss that so much!

@dsqard and I collaborated on a quilt as a gift. It was gifted today, so I can share it... Er, let the cat out of the bag?

Not a great photo of it but gives you the idea. We had company all weekend so I didn't have anywhere to lay it out flat. My sewing room is clearly too small.

The recipient loves bright rainbow colors and cats. Dsqard found the rainbow kitty fabric.

I made 3 pillowcases as well with extra rainbow cat fabric that dsqard got paired with extra fabric that was left over from the quilt for the cuff .

An overall very Scrappy project that hopefully makes the recipients day .

She loved it. It's on her bed at the place she lives at. Favorite things, cats, and rainbow colors! She just so happened to be at our home..we were backing out of the driveway to take her home when the mailman pulled up and with a box! I said, Lisa, I'm pretty sure that's for You! Went in the house. I spread it out for her, first thing she says is, rainbow colors! Then...cats!! Sure she's had every staff member see it by now. Man, there are some very caring, loving, and kind folks on BYC! Thank you SCG and DiDi. :hugs Here is a photo of our Lisa saying thank you. She loves doing the peace sign for photos. :)

Humm... Everyone else was having probs with byc last night. I couldn't get on, whole gateway error thing non stop couldn't get on at all.
Cleared everything but still kept getting a weird pop up on my phone, restarted phone and cleared again, still weird pop up, figured I had a virus, hadn't put a virus protector/cleaner on new phone yet so downloaded one couldn't find the one I usually use. It suggested another than another so loaded up a bunch of programs and then they started acting like viruses.....
Got up this morn early and still no byc, uninstalled all the crappy apps, byc works now, phone good now.
Hmm, coincidental I guess :hmm

I got the gateway error message too, and couldn't get on later last night.
