HBO, Showtime, Starz and etc. are becoming web services on their own. You can get them through Amazon, Hulu and other content providers. Then you logon to them using either the web, roku, Apple TV and etc.All the cable companies are ditching their movie channels just like dish and direct TV. That's why so many people are going to Netflix and YouTube and Amazon for TV.

I know on dish they still try to sell the movie packages but the movies are all from the 80's!
My sister canceled her cable and now has Amazon and Netflix. She watches better TV than we have. But she said Amazon and Netflix are now putting in commercials like TV.

It is very close to not needing cable. It is hard to get some channels though line food network, amc and fx.
