The Old Folks Home

There will be a reset button on the router. Push it in until the lights blink. You will then be able to follow the instructions in the manual for setting up the router.

https://kb.netgear.com/9665/How-do-I-perform-a-factory-reset-on-my-NETGEAR-router
I read the instructions and understand what I have to do but am not prepared with the connections info... Nor is my router registered Which is a rode block in of its self... in order to read the info on the back of the router due to its location I have to disconnnect it any way... Sigh... Not lazy just overwhelmed. If I have to disconnect it I might as well unplug my computer and take it to my guy then go to the store for a new router...

I know Avast is holding a virus at bay I am getting tired of avast anyway... Time to cancel the subscription since the subscribed copy wont install. and go with something else.

i am reaching my technoligical limit with regards to computers.

and I do NOT know how you IT people keep your sanity .... :bow

I there is a best buy close, you can get a wireless router there and have the Geek Squad set it up for you.

I didn't get my first computer until I was in my late 40s. I can remember hearing somebody say that if you are finding it impossible to get your computer set up, go outside and find the stupidest, dirt eating little kid you can find playing in the street and set him or her down in front of your computer. They would have it singing and dancing for you in record time.

Didn't take me long to appreciate that saying and understand what they were talking about. I can hook one up but if something goes wrong I'm still nudging my husband, pointing to the computer and begging Please Fix in my best helpless tone of voice.

I think either you can do it or you can't, I'm one of the latter. Now kids are being raised with electronic technology from the time they can hold their first cell phone in their sticky little hands. I always found it amusing. At the office I could always tell who the new mothers were by the depth of the crud that was caked on the front of their phones.:lau But the kids today have a real advantage over us golden oldies. Tell one of them that you remember your dad taking tubes out of the tv and running them down to the hardware store to test them and they give you a blank look. Better yet. We used an electric typewriter to do some insurance paper filings and make chart labels. More than once I had a mother ask if they could bring kiddo back and show them my typewriter because they had never seen one. I always obliged, set them down, gave them a piece of bland paper and told them to have fun and type something.

Those kids thought that typewriter was the coolest thing they had ever seen.

I tried it

did it and still got the same message from above

Right now I am switching from Fire Fox to Chrome because Fire Fox no longer allows me to do a search on the internet... Links work though
sigh.

Probably a forsure sign that I need to take my computer to my Computer guy

Deb let me see if this works. This is the Netgear Manuel

http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WGR614V7/wgr614v7_setup_manual_21apr06.pdf

There is a tiny hole in the back of the router. I use a safety pin and a magnifying glass to reset the router. The user name and password I gave you are on the router to get you logged in to set up the router. I've had to do it to many times to count to reset my password. Because people driving down the street would pull over and use our wifi and run us out of internet.
