The Old Folks Home

I forgot to update on the bee hive. It was very exposed in the location they swarmed to.
When I got home Thursday evening the hive was empty except for a few bees. I messaged the guy that said he was going to come out on Saturday to see if he came and got them. He said no. I sent him a pic of the empty hive. He said they probably moved. And it's been raining ever since so we have not been able to look for them.
Here's a pic of the empty hive.

That is just impressive. I guess the question is Any Honey?

Day two of the methotrexate. Yesterday was funny. I was out with DH working on one of our HAM radio antennas and all of a sudden I was so tired I almost laid down in the grass. I finally told him I had to go inside and lie down. NOW! I was so weak it was all I could do to drag myself to the sofa and do a face plant. I slept solid for about a hour and a half, woke up, made dinner, set around all night still feeling like a new hatched chick, went to bed, slept 8 hours, woke up and told DH over coffee that I needed to go back to bed and sleep another four hours. Somehow managed not to do it.

I was feeling a little perkier by afternoon. Still tired but managed to get work done on the new brooder.

I still need to get the bracing on the legs, staple in the wire and build a top/lid and the mounting rack for the heath lamps. Once I caulk and get a second coat of paint on the floor, it will be done and ready for the one week olds to move into.

Ah crap! Just looked at my pic. Have a section put together wrong. Oh well, take it apart, do it over. Or as my dad used to say If Ya'd done it right the first time you wouldn't have to redo it!

Don't cha just love it when you are 65 years old and you can still hear your parent's scold you?:gig It's like I'm being haunted.

People stay away from lightning that's an order.
Earlier this summer, one of the shagbark hickory trees on the south facing side of our property got hit by lightening (second time in the 17 years we've been here). We were home, not long after dark, and saw a flash and boom at the same time and knew something got hit. The next day I took these pics:

It blew some bark off the tree and killed the grass where it entered the ground (this is why you shouldn't hide under a tree in a thunderstorm). The rest of the tree looks okay.

Our yard is flooded. Over 2 inches of rain in an hour and a half, and it's still raining, but has slowed down a little, but heavier rains are on their way. We'll be hit hard again in about an hour. Normally it wouldn't be so bad, but the ground is saturated. We've broken all of our records for rainfall this year. The chicken coop is high, and dry though.

micro, that stuff can take some getting used to. Just go at your own pace until you get adjusted to it. Rest as needed. Don't overdo.

chicka, that is just plain pretty. I guess they knew you didn't want them there, so they moved on.
