The Old Folks Home

Not really interested, though, in finding out if aliens are tasty...nor visa versa. But just sayin' that if running away were the only option, well, I'm a goner.
We oldies should do as fish do, mill around in a big school. Confuses the hunter and makes it hard to pick one off. The runners are easy pickings.

So the stone at the driveway is the original with the two girls (they died first). The family at some point realized there wasn't enough space on the stone for everyone else and/or they could afford a nicer stone.

Easily found at a cemetery one town north.

My guess is the family did not want to throw the stone away and hauled the base with the names back home .

Dh picked our watermelon that has grown in the chicken run.
I washed it and cut it open... So sad!

Apparently it did not get pollinated properly.
Weird! I've never saw that before, but I've only successfully grown watermelon a few times now.
I looked it up and yup they say it's from lack of seed production. Could try hand pollinating. I'm going to give it a try next yr with winter squash, I grow a few kinds and would like to save seeds. I used to save my pumpkin seeds yrs ago but I think they crossed with zucchini. After a few yrs some of them were turning out like the warty green goblin pumpkins, pumpkin size but lots big warty bumps and stayed green, some were regular pumpkins.

I am a beliver that an Alien species from the stars. Capable of interstellar flight wont have an interest in conquering or eating.... us.... They may only take mild interest in studying our "backward" Ways.

As a scifi writer I see how its easy to speculate the what ifs... and it has to be so's...

Our downfall will come from us... In what ever capacity.... Ecologic, War, Social upheval, or Climate change... Or All of them mixed together...

I have tried every food except canned dog and cat food that My animals eat. Including horse goat and chicken...

I loved scratch and could possibly heat that up with a pressure cooker for a meal.... My teeth couldnt break it down... My dad used to have Red Wheat for breakfast when he was a kid.... But it too needed to be cooked for hours.

But all in all their food is nuanced for their taste and needs not ours. If its a good brand... I shy away from foods that are "flavored" to taste like... what ever. They are trying to sell it to us...

Growing up with farms all over, always someone needing help getting hay in back when they used square bales there was always a bunch of kids helping. Well us kids either riding on the back of trucks picking bales through the fields, or hay wagons pulled by tractors, sometimes they had kicker balers and we just had to stack in the wagons. Whether truck or wagon they would have pieces of field corn scattered around who knows how old or sanitary, we'd crunch and munch down on them like a snack lol
Didn't get paid anything either, didn't have anything better to do, it was fun especially the kicker balers. Instead of waiting for a bale to land we'd take turns trying to catch it.
Ever had Irish oatmeal? It's just steel cut oats cooked. I just plan on getting a cheap cast iron hand grinder for my Indian corn. I'll probably pick up a bag of whole oats so I can make my own steel cut oats.
My dad used to have wheatena for breakfast a lot when I was a kid, I loved it. Toasted wheat and ground coarse. Haven't had it in many probably 30yrs, think I'll try making some of that myself also.
My kids like grits and corn meal mush, with maple syrup or sugar and milk like oatmeal. I prefer it plain with a couple over easy eggs on top.
