The Old Folks Home

My DH failed the driving test last week. But, the are giving him another try! Found out they give them 3 or 4 tries! Good grief..he does have his good days, but he really shouldn't be driving. I do drive. I don't like going far anymore. My health problems are different. Won't get into them..lol, I will drive when I'm feeling well, problem is, I don't know how my day will be until I am up and around for a bit. Will see..I did just drive him to the city that is right next to where she will be, yesterday for his EEG. Our freeway have gotten so congested now days, I just don't care for driving it. :( Anyway...off to the vet today.. In town..lol..for a puppy wellness check. They did give Wison his shot there where I got him. Vet may want to give him another when he finds out. He does need to be deformed. Going to ask about getting those dew claws taken off while he is being fixed down the road, and getting him micro chipped.

Took me a long time to get my Aunt to stop driving. I even called the police. I took her keys. She called a locksmith. Finally she got really lost and had to call to get someone to get her. We took the car and gave it to my son.

It was similar with my Dad. My Brother put the car on jack stands. Dad had a hidden key and tried to drive off of the jack stands--wound up with the fender stuck in dry wall.

Dad had Multiple Schlerosis so he was mostly mentally there--but did not have good vision and coordination.

It is so sad. My Aunt passed away. Mom gave up drving easily. She never did have a good sense of direction. She is in a dementia home now.

It is Sad! Dad had MS starting when I was 8, in 1968. He had the progressive type and became Wheel chair bound in the 1980s. He passed away in 2001 from congestive heart failure. That is a very common cause of death for MS patients

Afternoon, all. Got the baby quilt bound this morning, took the dog for a relatively dry walk, and am now waiting (not so patiently) for the delivery and set up man who said "after noon"... at 1201 I ran to the window... he wasn't there.

Ripley is excited, too, she's very slobbery today and can't wait to slime a new person. I changed the couch blankets out so they weren't so slobbery, kinda like a slobbertrap. Although it's been about 90 minutes and there are some definite slobber streaks on it. I think she slimed it within 30 seconds of putting it on there.

Everyone thought there would be a huge problem with my grandmother, when it came time for her to stop driving. One day, out of the clear blue, she informed my parents that she would not renew her license, and didn't need her car anymore. She explained to them that I was always taking her anywhere she needed to go, OR all she had to do was call me, and I would get whatever she needed, so she didn't need to drive anymore.

My DWs Grandma did that too. She gave up driving and then moved herself to assisted living

Fortunately, my grandmother didn't really need assisted living. When I cooked for my family, I always made extra, and took a big plate of food to her. The only thing I didn't fix for her was breakfast. She would usually eat raisin bran, or a pastry of some sort for breakfast.
