The Old Folks Home

It was such a bad year here for gardens that I didn't even get a lot of Zukes. Usually two plants will have me up to my ears in zucchini but not this year. One plant didn't produce one squash and the other gave me about a half dozen.

Asked a neighbor about their garden and theirs did the same thing. They planted a huge garden and it did poorly. She said that the Amish gardens didn't do much better. Some veggies gave nice foliage but didn't produce. Pretty frustrating. Told DH that I was seriously considering selling my canner and all the equipment I have. Can't do the intensive ground level gardening any more. May just do more container planting this next season. Things like peppers, tomatoes and I'm dying to try to plant the container corn that Burpees advertised this year.

I mulched, I watered, I fertilized. Meant nada to my big orange gourds. The minute the sun hit them they wilted. I probably need to rethink where I am planting them and opt for an area that gets morning sun and afternoon shade.
I worked, came home and scraped the sidewalk and setup the lights and candy for the Trick or treaters(they were very cute!). I BBQd hot dogs and we had Chili Dogs for dinner
