The Old Folks Home

I was pretty surprised, too, Ron. First time one has ever done that although like DH I think he was just taking advantage of the air currents our big van was creating and being lazy.

I've had a great horned owl pace me before. Strange to look out your driver's side window and see one of these huge birds flying along side you.
I have seen them fly over me at night but have not had a great horned owl follow me, that I know of anyway.

It is very cool to see them at night

I saw mine at dawn. Huge bird.

I like raptors....as long as they stay far away from my chickens, LOL!
Owls are very interesting. We had some that lived in a tree down by the creek. I loved finding there waste packets and opening up the bag to find bones in it! Usually mice

We have a large owl population around us. We went walking two days in a row. Second day it snowed. Following the same path we noticed a single line neatly cut in the snow. At the end of the line we found rabbit remains. Looking that the scene. We figured that an owl had been out hunting, saw the rabbit and dragged a wing tip as it went in for the kill.

I love to hear them at night when they are courting. Their calls sound like maniacal female laughter. You never forget it when you hear it.
