The Old Folks Home

If I remember correctly, my mother would wet, and wring out a hand towel, then put a piece of saran wrap on it, then set the hot pad on that. I think she said the moist heat was better than the dry heat for her bursitis.

Best moist heat source is a rice bag - just a flannel bag (or even a cotton sock) filled with plain old rice. When you heat it in the microwave, it lets off warm, moist heat. You can stick them in the freezer for cold packs, too.

Not always stabbing, but sure speaks up when I try to lift anything heavy above elbow height, or when I lay on it in bed. Stabbing pain speaks more to nerve issues, although with swelling around the bursa you can get some nerve twangs too.

Dh said his legs are hurting him again.

I use the rice in the microwave many nights when it is so bad

Happy Monday guys. Busy day. My hen died overnight. She went peacefully in her sleep but y'all will be proud of me! I did my first necropsy as I still had no idea what had killed her and had a feeling that this time it wasn't Marek's.

I was a bit shaky but once in was fascinated by what I saw and learned.

I'm glad I found out what happened and glad there wasn't anything I could have done differently that would have saved her.

Yeah, the rice bag is what we call a microwave buddy.
