The Old Folks Home

Went back to work today and did not need either the emergency pair or pants or undies that I brought but I left them there just in case for tomorrow.

Trying my first food in a long time tonight. I'm brave. It's ramen noodles, so it's loosely "food"... let's just hope that's as loose as it gets.
:D

End of a long long day here.

As of 9:30 this morning they still hadn't got the results of my calcium test at the infusion center were they were to give me my first Prolia shot. I asked them if they thought I would get anywhere if I called the hospital and they said yeah and gave me the infusion center fax number. So while sitting in the dermatologist's office with DH I called the hospital and was able to get a copy of my calcium level sent to the infusion center. For some reason they had sent it to the doctor's office and they hadn't forwarded it to the center.:smackCall the center back at 11:30 when DH was done at the derms and they say YES! Good work! You are good to go. So instead of heading for home as planned we stuck around, had lunch at a nearby restaurant, by the time I got to the center my b/p was up, my aggravation factor at my doctor's office was up, my general mood was let the world turn into a festering ball and explode state of mind but I managed to get through the whole thing with only a sore arm for my irritation. I mean really, come on folks 3 weeks to get this going?

Okay, enough of that rant. About vaccinations etc. and the spread of misinformation.

Several years ago I was in a local Amish thrift store (it's called the dent bent and expired shop) and saw a poster hanging near the door that read 'vaccinations. They are pumping pus into your child. Don't let them do it!' I did a face palm and quickly left before I ripped it off the wall and tore it to shreds.

Problem is that they really believe that people are getting pure pus injected into their bodies. As a result they have regular outbreaks of whooping cough, chicken pox, etc in communities that could easily spread into the 'real' world that everyone else lives in.

Personally I have only a few sites that I really trust for medical information. For drugs RXlist.com which we used professionally in my husband's office. The Mayo Clinic has an excellent site for medical information also. Sometimes I use webmd.com but generally I stick to sites that have a link for medical professionals when I want to find out what doctors are telling their patients.

Hope everybody sick is feeling better.Prayers sent for Cynthia's sister and SGC to feel better. Good to hear that you didn't have to use the emergency equipment SGC. Been there done that only I used to have to park my medcart next to the bathroom when the norovirus came to visit.:sick

Hey Perchie! How ya be?

Finally found out what my new blood calcium was. 9.7, @ronott1! They said it was perfect. Which is always the region it's been in. I just snorted and said so much for that lifetime of being active, exercising, jogging, running, horseback riding, keeping my weight under control all for nothing. The nurse just smiled and said, yeah, when all is said and done, it's all about hormones and what menopause does to us.

Still I imagine if I hadn't worked so hard at being the best I could be, I would hate to think of what shape I would be in now.

Got home pretty much on schedule. Plane landed somewhat late in Burlington, had to wait for them to plow the runway. DD1 picked us up but since things were running behind schedule, she didn't have time to bring us home and go back for classes so we dropped her at her friend's house where she leaves her car and walks to the campus, not far and saves a lot of parking lot money.

Drove the 20 miles home, spent 3 hours blowing snow including clearing the car off. Cleared the car off again starting at 7 and left at 7:15 to get DD1 at 7:30 ... make that 8. The road we usually take to the interstate when we go south is notoriously poor in snow, that town doesn't plow well so had to go north 3 miles then retrace south on the interstate. Road was sloppy and it was snowing, interstate was the same for the first 10 miles. Not real speedy.

Got her home, took a shower. Been up since 8 AM EST Tuesday and it is now 9:30 PM Wednesday. Going to bed.

I am pretty good. trying to wrangle my gut into submission... its working. A friend recommended a probiotic that she uses and I am happy with it.

Glad to hear your blood calcium is normal.... Good for cognitive stuff as well as bones.
