The Old Folks Home

SGC I've noticed that your quilts seem to have a theme when you make them for yourself. This beautiful quilt definitely says 'winter' to me. The mood is just different than your usual creations but I remain in awe of your talent.

Down in mid teens here this morning. Told dh that it feels more like an Illinois late December than an early Missouri December. Hate to think what January will bring but not much to do about it other than throw another log on the fire.

No big plans for today. Y'all have a great Weekend.

I'm losing my touch. I passed silent gas in a crowded room to get a reaction....instead someone else claimed it.
I guess next time you need to declare ownership with a nice loud one!

Yeah, I am.
We had no staff the first half of the year so I just had to burn all my leave .It was nice to take this much time all in a row, practically .
I hope that has been taken care of and you get a normal year in 2019!
I ASSUME your Thursday wasn't as bad as DW's. Day off for the USPS employees Wednesday but the mail haulers are contracted so they worked. 2 days of mail to deal with after every day off. Thus Mondays are always bad. Of course it doesn't help that it is Christmas season so the mail volume is higher anyway.

I'm definitely not a mail carrier and i was on leave on Thursday, so I know my day was infinitely better than hers. In fact, I went to go mail some packages Thursday and the lady was lamenting that it was the worst time of year to have a day off. We use a lot of internet ordering anyway, but so much worse this time of year.
When i worked retail pharmacy the worst days were teh week before and 2 weeks after January 1st. You see, many people's insurance changes with the new year, and they rush to get all their meds filled the week before it swaps over and (presumably) they either have a higher copay or their deductible starts over. After the first, many people have new insurance, but the cards haven't arrived yet...

Thank you. I got all the important stuff off of it, and when I got the last important file off, it won't squeak out any more files. It's done for. That's ok. I can recover the rest of the files. The ones I managed to get off of it, I would not be able to, or would have a very difficult time trying to replace. The rest of the files on the drive, I can replace.

Dh checked to see if the hard drive was still under warranty. It's a Seagate Barracuda, so it's not an off brand, or the cheapest on the market. The warranty is for 3 years. The drive is 3 years 4 months old. That's not really old for a hard drive of that quality. I normally start replacing hard drives about every 4 to 4 1/2 years. Normally, I change them out to get a larger capacity drive, not due to drive failure. I've actually got a hard drive here that is 10 years old, and still works as good as the day I bought it. I have another that is around 8 years old that works fine. My daughters have hard drives in their computers that are around 6 years old, and no sign of any problems. The one we put it now, is a Western Digital Red NAS, 6TB. It's so funny. I read a few reviews, and one of the magazines was talking about the Western Digital being a new company, but their hard drives were the best. I had to laugh. My very first computer, back in 1995, had a Western Digital hard drive. They've been around for a long time, and have always had the best hard drives. The problem has always been the price. They were the most expensive on the market. That's why Seagate did so well. For over $200.00, I do expect this to last at least 4 years without a problem.
