The Old Folks Home

SCG I am actually looking for a potholder among the stuff I hid in my son's room& I will try to get a photo of the pizza cutter -blade protector. Good thing my man warmer fizzled out(oops) because the one you showed me is a cadillac next to my Jalopy.

if you lived closer, i would take them but to far for me:(
She might deliver them to PA.

I really would like to know how someone can burn through $360,000.00 in only six weeks.
 That does seem pretty difficult, time for an audit of the books. Sorry you are going through this.

Was that, like, actual money in the bank that you can pay bills from, or maybe at least partly a government grant? The government shut-down has had all kinds of ripple effects; I know of at least one business that may no longer be in business by the time this whole thing settles out.

she said she was getting volunteers to carry the meals to make sure they get where they needed to go.

Is that an implication that some meals weren't going where they should? Sadly, it wouldn't be the first time I heard such a thing.

Sorry to hear you are losing your job, buddy.:hugs

It was money granted and donated that was deposited into the operations account.
As for efficiency of deliveries I have a assessment done every month by my supervisor and I have never had my efficiency fall below 98.4 percent. So her claim is an absolute lie.

She did an article in a local paper ripping our center for being grossly inefficient and is going to "straighten "it out by getting volunteers to do everything but drive the buses. That means volunteer workers in the thrift store, nutritionist, meal carriers, cooks, activity director , maintenance, and transport manager. This is nothing short of socialism...and it's not going to work. She also wants the meals delivered by using the transit vehicles...which are owned by another company. Talk about a legal can of worms! They are going to have to train all volunteers to be food handlers according to state law and do background checks on everyone! Im glad I'm leaving!

Sounds like she is trying to kill the business. Really hard to rely on volunteers for all of that. Volunteers show up when they feel like it, some more reliable than others. I would still call for an audit of the books. All that money went somewhere. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if they discovered embezzlement.

Morning everyone. Well, NOAA bombed again. They were calling for 4-8 inches of snow here over the weekend starting last night late and going into today. Well, Weather.gov changed that amount two or three times, Weather.com said 3-5 inches and Accuweather.com said 2-4 or maybe 3-5 inches.

We got not quite an inch of snow and it will probably be gone by tomorrow as the temps are slowly creeping up above freezing.

Fine with me. I wanted 0 snow.....and spring. Like NOW!

JD I'm so sorry to hear about the tangled mess you are dealing with. I had the same thing happen where I used to work when the previous owners of the facility went belly up. They swore they had money to pay the nurses but I turned into the spokes person for the nursing staff and told them if our paychecks didn't clear, we were not going to be there the day after payday. That got their attention. I had my bank call their bank and confirm that the money to pay the nurses was in the account and it was.

Still, no job is worth what you are going through. There is always work to be found if a person is willing. I'm sure you will find something better and with less stress.

In the western IL town where we had our office they used the 'volunteer' method for delivering the meals to shut ins. The local Rotary, where DH was a member did it. He remembers passing the meals to people, asking them if they were okay and moving on to the next address.. He said the system worked for a small town of 3000 people.

Still an audit on your facility would be an interesting thing to see happen. 360,000 dollars is a lot of money.
