I would love a good quality German Sheppard pup, but they're very expensive, and for some reason, money always seems to be needed elsewhere.

I've shared my life with one German Shepherd. I have had a LOT of dogs, but he was by far the most special dog that I have ever known. He's been dead for over 40 years, and I still tear up when I think of him. Frankly I liked/loved him more than most of the people I have known. I will never have another because he took too big a part of my heart when he died. If you can locate a good one health and temperament checked, price should not matter.

.....and if you getting a GSD consider having the pup checked for genetic Degenerative Myelopathy. So many people are breeding their dogs without realizing they are perpetuating a genetic time bomb in their dogs. Testing is available.

GSD's have a high incidence of DM.

Busy day yesterday. Rheumy visit. Found inflammation in my neck and shoulders. Got a shot, blood work, increased medicine...blah blah blah. Have to watch my diet closer. Oh well...Told DH that it was such a pleasure going to a doc who takes pain seriously and does all he can to either find the cure or the cause and fix it. Or at least make it easier to live with.

Dealing with two problem chickens. Broody hen is no longer broody but is having trouble walking. She walks fine then will try to walk on her left hock. Only thing I can think of is that it's neurological and related to MD since she has no other symptoms. Will probably be putting her down in the near future.

Then the flock master looks as though he got into it with the junior rooster and lost. Both eyes swollen and face beat up. Heading out to pop a baby aspirin down his throat and grease up his face. Biggest problem is that he has grossly swollen toe joints. Definitely some sort of progressive arthritis. He walks goose stepping. The fact that he has been de-throned by a much smaller rooster even though he is a big robust almost 10 pounder is a point of concern. Usually when that happens with that flock that marks the beginning of the end for the defeated roo. Somehow the roosters sense a weakening or flaw in another bird long before I notice it.
